The Fall Discipleship Brochure is headed your way!

Summer vacations are on the way out, and our fall programming is on the way in! We are so excited to get back to Sunday school, Wednesdays Alive! (and the dawn of a new C.S. Lewis class), youth group, and everything else that keeps our parish connected and thriving. We’ve got a lot of returning groups (which are always welcoming newcomers!) and some new ones starting up, including Dorothy Lancaster’s Wednesday morning group for moms and Justin Hare’s Sunday morning class, “Connecting Our Faith and Work.”

Read all about it in the 2023 Fall Discipleship Brochure arriving in your mailbox later this week! Can’t wait? Click the link below to view the brochure online!

Thank you to our volunteers who are coming to the office this morning to help prepare the mailing––we are so grateful! And the more the merrier––if you would like to join us (and enjoy some tasty treats and fellowship), please stop by the church office between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m.!

“Without my morning coffee, I’m just like a dried-up piece of roast goat.”––J.S. Bach

Johann Sebastian Bach knew what he was talking about: coffee is important! And so are the volunteers who make it for the parish on Sunday mornings.

Two of these “Perky People” come in each Sunday mid-September–May to make sure we don’t feel like dried-up pieces of goat! They could use several more volunteers, though, so that each person is on duty only once every six weeks or so. No experience or special coffee knowledge is needed!

If you can help out once in a while, please click the button below to contact Irene Rowe, head of the Perky People!

Just *Part* of the Title is New

Since Dorothy Lancaster joined the ministry team in June 2021, she has been the Director of Ministry to Children and Families, but last week, when she expertly wrangled a Mediterranean gecko from his perch in her second-floor office using only a facial tissue, it became clear that that title simply didn't cover her broad range of duties and talents. She will of course now be known as Dorothy Lancaster, Director of Ministry to Children and Families and Gecko Hunter...wait, is it clear that she is also a gecko hunter? Or does that imply that she ministers to a gecko hunter? Hmm, we may need to clarify that before we order the new name plates and stationery.

If you follow St. Philip's on Facebook and Instagram, then you probably already knew about Dorothy's amended title. But if you're just now hearing the news, don't you think you should take a moment to follow us so that you, too, can be among the first to hear about upcoming events, weather-related schedule updates, and the latest reptilian news?
