Tea Room Is Next Week: Invite a Friend to Lunch!
Many volunteers still needed
SET-UP • GIFT SHOP • WAITSTAFF • BREAK–DOWN
| |
A message from Tea Room Co–Chairs Amanda Ayers and Hope Gamble: Tea Room is just around the corner, and we are writing to request a little bit of help ... we need volunteers! We have lots of spots to fill, but one significant and specific need we have is in helping with set-up and tear-down.
Typically Snyders delivers and unloads all of our tables. However, this year they are booked solid and not able to deliver. That means that we are having to take a U-Haul up to pick up all of our rentals and unload the truck on our own.
This is where you come in! We need help with set-up at 10:00 on Friday, April 21, and takedown at 3:00 on Friday, April 28, and we would love to have many people there to make the move quick and easy!
Other pressing needs:
- Gift shop attendants
- Mid-week waitstaff
Please feel free to email or call co-chairs Amanda Ayers (843-696-1852) and Hope Gamble (843-568-7705) with any questions or concerns. Thank you!
| |
And we always need dessert, of course!
Proceeds from the Tea Room benefit St. Philip's foreign and home missions, St. Philip's choirs, and youth ministries.

Parents, you are welcome to come learn about the ministry and bring your own parents even if they do not attend St. Philip's Church. All are welcome! Please let us know your plans at the link below.
Generations Ministry was developed at St. Philip's Church in 2018 to encourage, empower, and equip grandparents in their God-given role of passing faith in Jesus Christ to their children, grandchildren, and future generations.

St. Philippians Share Faith at Hope to Home Ministry
by Sandra Anderson, Home Missions Team
| |
This past Saturday morning, Suzanne and Gerry McCord’s foyer group, along with several members of the St Philip’s Home Mission Team, had a blast volunteering at the Hope to Home Ministry (H2H), a Christian-based ministry whose mission is to collect new or gently used donated home goods and to purchase items such as mattresses and pillows, and then deliver these essential home furnishings to displaced or formerly homeless individuals and families who have recently secured housing. H2H transforms their empty living space into a comfortable “home,” extending the love and hope of Jesus through delivering provisions, praying with recipients before leaving, and personally giving them a Bible. H2H follows up after delivery to be sure recipients are already connected to a church or, if they are not, offering contact information on nearby churches.
Our group met at the H2H warehouse in Charleston, learned more about the ministry, and then selected the area in which we each wanted to serve that day. Some of us helped load trucks with household furnishings from the donations stored in the warehouse and then delivered them to families. Some helped repair broken or “well loved” furniture to get it ready for next week’s deliveries, while others helped unpack and sort donated items and place them in their designated section of the warehouse. Another job was to go “shopping” in the warehouse to collect the donated items on a list then place them into individual kitchen and linen kits for future deliveries.

Shine the Light Capital Campaign Launches April 30: Presentation and Celebration Lunch
The rain on Holy Saturday didn’t stop our youth from hiding a thousand eggs (yes, you read that right!) for our eager egg hunters to find––they simply hid them in the Parish House instead of on the Parish House lawn!
The egg hunters gathered in the Parish Hall for snacks and an Easter message from the Rev. Justin C. Hare before their parents set them loose on their mission to collect all the eggs––a mission they completed in record time!
Our egg hunters had a blast, and the parents appreciated the messages they found on some of the eggs, such as one with a pig that read, “This little piggy loves Jesus!” Visit our Facebook page for more adorable pictures!

Congratulations, Confirmands!
On Sunday, April 16, the Rt. Rev. Mark J. Lawrence, Bishop Emeritus of the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina, confirmed 30 of our young brothers and sisters in Christ. Congratulations, confirmands! May God strengthen you for witness and ministry through the power of the Holy Ghost, and daily increase in you his manifold virtues of grace: the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and godly strength, the spirit of knowledge and true godliness, and the spirit of holy fear, now and for ever. Amen.

A Christian Response to Modern Cultural Challenges Facing the Next Generation
Tuesday, May 9, ~ 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall
| |
The next generation is facing a different set of cultural challenges than their parents or grandparents did. As Christians, we are called to share our faith with those coming along behind us. These new uncharted waters can make this task seem daunting. Parents and grandparents, come discover how we can engage in these conversations and share our biblical beliefs in a helpful and uplifting way.
