CLASS OF 2020!
To The Class of 2020,

As we reflect back, know that you have been an amazing class and one that has contributed greatly to St. Pius X. You leave an outstanding legacy.

Remember as you go forward on this journey of life to always, wherever you are, contribute something so that you will be able to leave a legacy of excellence in all that you do.
With continued prayers and love for each of you.

Mr. Steve Spellman
I came in with the Class of 2020 and feel a great connection with these Golden Lions. They were such a welcoming group that I saw gel together before the first day of school at events like Camp Golden Lion.

I am proud of the leaders they have become, how they have served Pius, and how they have retained their friendly demeanor. My prayer is that they stay connected to Christ and always continue on a path to holiness.

May God bless the Class of 2020-- such a resilient, good group of Golden Lions.

Mr. Chad Barwick

Steve Spellman SPX Scholarship Established at UGA
Via a surprise Zoom call with Mr. Spellman this week, Muffet and Rich Arroll '80, together with Parents of Alumni Jennifer and Marty Flanagan, announced the establishment of the Steve Spellman St. Pius X Scholarship at UGA. The Arrolls and Flanagans were looking for the perfect gift to honor Mr. Spellman's 20-years of dedicated service to St. Pius X. One hallmark of Mr. Spellman's time at St. Pius X is the rapid growth in scholarships for students in need. This fitting tribute helps eliminate the financial obstacles for Pius students seeking a UGA education. On behalf of Mr. Spellman and the entire St. Pius X community, we extend our gratitude to the Flanagan and Arroll families for this gift.
Congratulations to Nicole Greshman for being named the Class of 2020 valedictorian, the highest academic honor given to a senior student. Gresham plays soccer, swims, offers up much time for volunteer work, and enjoys time with friends and family. In her time at St. Pius X she has taken 12 AP classes, challenging herself constantly. She is a National Merit Commended Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society, where she also serves as Secretary. She was honored by the Hugh O'Brien Youth Foundation for her many hours of community service. Gresham is the co-president of STAND, a Lion Leader and she also volunteers at her Church. She looks forward to attending the University of Virginia in the fall.

Congratulations to Daniel Buckley for earning the title of Class of 2020 Salutatorian. In spite of his rigorous academic course load, which included nine AP courses, he earned honors all four years at St. Pius X. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Pius Players, Music Ministry, and Math and Latin Clubs. He offers time as a writing and math tutor and has served as a retreat leader for campus ministry. He received the Harvard Book Award and has been named All State in Chorus. Outside of school he volunteers at nursing homes and cancer centers and serves as a teen advisor for the Dekalb County Library Board. He will attend Georgia Tech in the fall.
The honor of being named STAR Student is given to the student with the highest SAT scores in the class. This year, the title was given to Margherita Ceccagnoli and Daniel Buckley, who named their STAR teachers as Ms. Carrie Stockard and Ms. Maria Kepler, respectively. Ceccagnoli will attend Georgetown University in the fall.
