THE SHEPHERD'S VOICE
September 23, 2021

St. Robert Catholic School students love God, their neighbors, science, technology, engineering, math and learning so they can
be the best they can be.

This Week at
St. Robert Catholic School!
Hi Families!

It feels so good to see the students back into the routine of school. It is hard to believe that we have completed 5 weeks of school already.

If you have been able to attend Mass on Wednesdays since school started, you will know that we have changed seats and seating configurations several times over the past few weeks. However, just like in the 3 bears, I believe we have finally landed on the space that is “just right” for our students. We are now sitting right in front, to the left of the altar. This is a great place for the students as they can look directly at the speaker.

The students are showing very respectful behavior during Mass. They are quietly walking into church and learning to kneel and pray once they get to their seat. We are working on standing straight and tall when it is time to stand and kneeling straight and tall when it is time to kneel. Students are also being encouraged to respond at the appropriate times. Thanks for helping them practice these respectful behaviors at Mass on the weekend!

I hope everyone had a chance to get outside this past weekend…the weather was beautiful and we are looking forward to another great week!

Peace,
Liz
Virtue of the Week...Patience
Bearing present difficulties calmly.

Virtue of the Week for Next Week...Respect
Speaking and acting according to one's own and others' rights,
status, and circumstances.

Beginning of School Year Reminders!

  • Morning drop off carline begins at 7:45 am. If you arrive before 7:45 am, please have students stay in the car until the staff comes out to begin the carline.

  • Unless you are still waiting for uniform backorders, please be sure all students are in school uniform unless it is a non-uniform day. i.e., Mighty Shephard Mondays, etc...

Vision and Hearing Screenings

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services requires local health departments to conduct hearing and vision screenings for children in Michigan. • Preschool aged children, including Developmental Kindergarten and Young Fives, will be screened for hearing and vision.
  • Children in Kindergarten, and 2nd grades will have their hearing screened.
  • Children in 1st and 3rd grades will have their vision screened.

After screenings are complete you will be receiving your child's screening documentation in their backpack.

Please Help Us Reach
Our Goal!
Update - Fr. Len Sudlik Scholarship Fund

With the help of the our parish Knights of Columbus chapter and many parish families, we are steadily moving closer to our final goal to reach the threshold to allow for scholarship funds to be awarded.

We are so grateful for all of the generous donations already received.

We have already achieved our initial goal of $5,000 which allows for the fund to be established and we are steadily moving toward the final goal of $25,000 which is the threshold we need to cross to begin awarding scholarship money to our students. We are excited to report that we have already reached $14,100, halfway there!

We are asking our school and parish families to prayerfully consider making a donation to help us reach our final goal. Any amount is welcome!

If you are interested in making a donation... Please contact Liz Peters or Gen DeWildt. Donation checks can be made payable to "St. Robert Catholic School" with a notation of "Scholarship Fund" in the memo area.

We are so excited to announce our first parent-led afterschool
program for our students. As mentioned at our Parent Meeting, we would
like to begin building a dynamic afterschool activities program led by
our talented school parents.

Please consider dusting off your favorite interest or hobby and design a
short or long term weekly activity for our students to participate in for an enrichment of their minds or to learn a new skill or activity.

We do have classroom space available after school that can be used
for these opportunities. Please feel free to contact Liz Peters to discuss any afterschool activities you might like to offer to our students.

  • We have a new seating section of the church for our school students and families located in the center front section directly in front of the Ambo. Please note, the students will sit in the front of this section with their teachers and all parents attending Mass will sit behind the school section with their students and other family members.
