THE SHEPHERD'S VOICE
October 15, 2020

St. Robert Catholic School students love God, science, technology,
engineering, math and learning so they can be the best they can be.

This Week at
St. Robert Catholic School!
Dear Parents,

The inspiration for today’s message came from the conversations I had with our students this morning during my virtue talks.

Your children are currently learning about the virtue of courtesy at school each day. The virtuous definition we learned for courtesy is: “Treating other people with respect, recognizing that all are made in God’s image and likeness.”

When I first talked about this virtue with the students, I explained to them that God is in all of us, that he is in all of our hearts, so we need to treat each other just like we would treat God if he stood next to us. They have really responded well to this explanation and shared with me all the ways they can use courtesy at home during our break. Here is what I heard…

“I will pick up my toys without being asked.”

“I will share my toys with my brothers and be nice to them.”

“I can help do the dishes.”

“I will make my bed.”

“I will stop what I am doing and go to bed without arguing about it.”

“I will treat my Mom and Dad nicely because Jesus is in their hearts.”

Yes…your children told me these and many other things today! They understand that it is important to be kind and respectful to others because each of us is made in the image and likeness of God! When I listened to the students in our school share how they can live a virtuous life, I know that our future is very bright! You are raising amazing human beings!

Peace,
Liz

A peek at special moments of our school day...
Special Playground Wish List

As we look for ways to continue social distancing in a healthy way, we are planning to convert a portion of our parking lot to a safe, open play area for recess. As a result, we have asked Beth Russell, our Gym Teacher, to identify some additional play items that would enhance our outdoor play area. Here are a few items that would be very helpful...

  • Jump Ropes (singles and double sizes)

  • Skip Its (plastic)

  • Chinese Jump Ropes

  • Side Walk Chalk
Battery Fairy?

Due to the need for daily temp screenings we are finding that our AAA battery costs are really climbing.

We would definitely welcome the donation of a few packages of AAA batteries!

the CDC guidelines
Uniform Policy for
Elementary Students
(Y5s - 2nd Grade)

It's great to be back in school and we are thrilled to be finding some sense of normalcy. However, we are seeing many students arriving at school not dressed in the proper school uniform and/or not following the uniform guidelines. Our school uniform policy is intended to create a school identity and sense of community. Adhering to the school uniform policy teaches our students to respect rules and guidelines

Please note that all Elementary students (Y5s - 2nd Grade) should be wearing actual uniform tops and bottoms purchased from Lands End at Landsend.com.

Lands' End has all acceptable uniform pieces on their website. If you purchase from our school section you will have exactly what you need.
