“I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from The Savior of the world is communicated to us through this Book.”

Have you seen the beautiful picnic tables in the back of school? These were lovingly assembled, sanded and painted by parents last weekend so that children and teachers have a comfortable, safe place to sit while eating lunch. Thanks to all who gave their time and to our HSA Board for ordering the tables and organizing the effort. We are a blessed community.
Dear St. Rose School Families,
This week every one of our sixth graders received a most special gift from St. Rose parish -- the Teen Bible. What a wonderful reminder of God's loving presence and guidance in their lives. We are so blessed to spend five days a week in a Christ centered environment building a solid foundation for Preschool through 8th grade students.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we continue to navigate school days in light of Covid 19 guidelines. We remain safe, strong and are resolute in our commitment to staying this way. Students are doing a fantastic job with masks and we continue to make strides on explaining/understanding the importance of distancing at recess. If you can reinforce the significance of this with your children as well we would appreciate it. Working together is our best defense! Thank you.
Helping every student reach his or her God given potential is our ongoing mission at St. Rose School. It is always a pleasure to observe lessons in action and witness the steady growth of children as the year unfolds. I am grateful to our dedicated teachers for the joy they bring to their vocation and the sincere interest they take in every student. They are champions of the stellar academic, faith focused education for which St. Rose School has been known all these years.
Although some of our usual enrichment programs are on hold for now there are many activities available to students including sports clinics, tutoring, chess and art lessons, all within safe guidelines. My thanks to Mrs. Ortega for making these possible.
We continue to celebrate Friday mass together virtually which is a highlight of the week. Please join us if you can, https://www.strosechurch.com/live-stream,
we always relish having our families with us during this time.
Please keep an eye out for information about our upcoming Tuition raffle which is a great opportunity to win $10,000 in tuition money for any K-12 school, college or student loan organization accredited in the United States. This is an important fundraiser for our school so we are hoping that every family will participate.
Did you know it costs $8,538 to educate EVERY 1 student at St. Rose School? This means that $1,958 per student is not covered by tuition. We need your help! Read more

STUDENT LIFE UPDATE by MRS. B
Dear St. Rose Families,
God blessed us with some beautiful days for our long weekend and continued to send some of those to us during the week. The children were thrilled to be outside in the warm sunshine! On Thursday, we had our annual School Picture Day; it was a wonderful sight to see the children in their dress uniforms and know we will have pictures to share of their joyful smiles. Those who were absent, or Distant Learners who could not make it on Thursday, we will have a picture make up day in November.
As we are all experiencing this crazy time, we know that information changes daily, sometimes hourly. I’d like to take this opportunity to give heartfelt gratitude to Nurse Bonnie, from our entire community! She has been a wealth of information keeping us updated on all news, happenings, and updates; and fields many questions from the community, all while tending to our children’s needs! If you have a moment in the next week, please give a shout out to our Guardian Angel to let her know how much she is appreciated!
While the National Days Calendar shows us that October hosts many themes to celebrate, we circled a few for celebrating and serving others during the month. Our first school-wide service project will be tied to Breast Cancer Awareness and raising hope and funds for a cause near and dear to many of our families and staff. To keep the memory of loved ones lost to the disease, and to celebrate those who have survived, we are having a Pink Parade and Prayer Day on Friday, October 23. All students, faculty, and staff are invited to wear pink that day for a $2 donation. Your donations will go towards research for a cure. Our students will also be spending some time that day, “parading” over to the Mary Garden by the Church and the statue by the Preschool to pray the rosary for all family and friends who are listed on the pink ribbons.
Our October service continues with Trick or Treating for Faith Food Pantry on Friday, October 30! This will be a costume dress up day for Preschool through Grade 1; the annual Book Character Dress-Up in Grade 2; and for Grades 3-8 a fall dress down day. Instead of getting treats, we are going to collect some goods! We are asking everyone to bring 2 nonperishable items for the Faith Food Pantry. As we head into the colder weather and with so many in need these days, we want to add to the shelves at the food pantry by giving treats!
Shout Out to the Class of 2021
The 8th grade year requires a number of service hours for Confirmation, and members of the SRS Chapter of the NJHS. This weekend we have an opportunity for you to earn service hours for helping create a pumpkin patch for your buddies and other little learners of our community. On Sunday, there will be 100 pumpkins delivered to the school, a gift of the O’Donnell family. Mrs. O’Donnell is looking for volunteers from the 8th grade to help at the school, from 2-3pm. Please contact Mrs. O’Donnell firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to help create this enchanting pumpkin patch experience for students in Preschool-Grade 2!
With our annual in-person High School Night being canceled; we are looking at the option of offering evening Zoom visits so that both students and parents can have questions answered. Many schools have already put these in place due to the restrictions at so many schools. Schools are also offering virtual Open Houses. Some schools are offering limited in-person visits. Please visit the school websites as many of these require registration.
NOTRE DAME HIGH SCHOOL is having a virtual Open House on Sunday, October 18 at 9am.
CANTERBURY has recently added some new events to the calendar for this fall. You can get more details with dates by following the link:
Now that Progress Reports are out and we are heading into conferences and the end of the first quarter. Many families like to know about options for helping their child going forward into the school year. We have several opportunities for our students at this time. During the weeks of November 2 through December 18 excluding the week of Thanksgiving, we have partnered with Team DIG to offer both in-person small group homework help in the library and one-to-one virtual tutoring. Masks are required for in-person sessions.
Small group sessions are available for students in grades K-8 on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons 3:15-4:15 p.m. with no more than 6 students. One-to-one virtual sessions will be hosted in the evenings and coordinated with the tutors. Small group tutoring is $25 per day. You may register for more than one day, but payment must be made in full for the entirety of the 6 weeks. Individual tutoring is $30 and paid session by session.
Registration will be for the full 6-week session. Registration is open now through October 26 or until a session reaches capacity. To register, please fill out this Google Form: https://forms.gle/TTQtTooynjHznrBM6 A payment link will be sent with registration confirmation.
Mrs. Rahtelli is also available for tutoring in grades 1 through 3. Please contact her directly to make arrangements , email@example.com.
Thank you to the volunteers who helped assemble and paint the new picnic tables! We could not have done it without your support. Now our kids have a clean, comfortable place to sit outside for mask breaks or lunch when the weather cooperates.

Please bring a check made out to "St. Rose HSA" if you haven't already paid.
Registration is now open for Trunk R Treat on Friday, October 30th. Please register using this form: https://bit.ly/3k5Fmw5. Please mark your calendars for the next HSA meeting which will take place on November 5th. The Book Fair will take place online this year, from November 9th through the 22nd.
