Dear St. Rose School Families,
I realize that you are anticipating the first day of school with a mixture of excitement and reticence. Covid has changed many traditions and mindsets but one thing it has not changed is our passion for Catholic education. Last Spring we proved our endurance as a community. We remained connected even at a distance. We learned new skills and ways to communicate. We have emerged stronger and wiser. So it is with great confidence that we open the doors of St. Rose School for the 2020-2021 school year.
What will a day at school look like, you wonder? It will be:
An overview of the school day can be found in the SRS Re-Opening plan (see important documents box below). You can find more details in Mrs. B's Student Life update as well as in upcoming communications from teachers regarding specific class schedules.
I am delighted to welcome our new 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Annmarie Winington, to the St. Rose School family. Mrs. Winington has many years of experience teaching in Catholic schools; she is a dynamic addition to our faculty.
My thanks to the HSA board for organizing a Parent Q & A Zoom meeting on Thursday August 27th. Your questions are important to us and we promise to answer them as they arise. We have begun compiling a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) and will continue adding to it as a reference during these times.
Yesterday we received PPE materials, everything from hand sanitizers to infrared thermometers for every classroom, an Electrostatic Sprayer, Disinfectant Bio Sprayer/Fogger, and more. The School air filtration system has been thoroughly evaluated with high marks. The health and safety of your children, as well as their premier education, is our top priority.
On Monday August 24th the faculty will gather for a mass celebrated by Monsignor Bob and PD sessions in preparation for our re-opening. We are looking forward to a visit from Dr. Cheeseman who will tour the school and join in some of our conversation that morning.
We are excited to welcome our new families in a friendly, safe way on August 28th. It is a joy to add so many people to our St. Rose School community. We are rooted in faith with a rich history and a bright future.
Desks socially distanced, new books on the shelves and teachers busily decorating bulletin boards and planning first day lessons all say we are getting closer to re-opening school to welcome students, new and returning.
As you prepare for those first days, please do not plan on sending everything on the supply list in one day. For the first day be sure your child has the basics like pencil, eraser, scissors, glue stick, crayons or color pencils or markers. Students in grades 4 and up should plan on bringing a notebook and planner on their first day as well.

The HSA will host a meeting next Thursday, August 27th at 7pm via Zoom gathering parents and school leadership to address your questions about returning to school. Please send your questions to email@example.com. We will send out a Zoom link via email next week. The session will be recorded and the recording will be shared for parents who are unable to join us on the 26th.
We welcome you to submit questions in advance so that they can be addressed during the meeting. Please send your questions to firstname.lastname@example.org by August 25th.
