Dear St. Serra Parents,

It was another great week at St. Serra school! As we continue to work our way toward the end of the 2020-21 school year, I have many people asking me what school will look like when we return in August. They ask if children will still have to wear masks? Will volunteers be allowed at school? Will sports resume? etc. The short answer is, ‘I hope so, but I cannot predict the future.’ Additionally, I tell them we will be prepared and be in the ‘least restrictive environment’ allowed by the CDC and Diocese of Orange. Our goal is to get St. Serra back to normal as soon as we can! That includes having parents on campus volunteering like before, holding athletic events after school, having in-person meetings, etc. etc. I am really looking forward to getting to know our parents and developing a partnership between the school and home. As I have previously mentioned many times, it is critical that our mission is the same, preparing your child(ren) for that next step in their lives, both academically and spiritually. As we finish this school year we will continue to look at ways to bring back as many activities and programs allowable, and we look forward to a very bright future here at St. Serra.

Always Striving,

Student Council Fundraiser Supporting Laura's House
As Catholics, the month of May is dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God. To honor our Blessed Mother Mary, we continue our commitment to faithful stewardship by honoring all mothers in sponsoring Laura's House. Laura's House has been inspiring hope and empowering change to end domestic violence for over 27 years. With your help, St. Serra can make a positive impact in our community by supporting mothers and families in need. St. Serra donations may be made online anytime by clicking on our donations page. The Student Council will also be out during both morning and afternoon traffic on Friday, May 7 to collect CASH donations for Laura’s House. Students who bring a minimum $1 donation to support mothers and children of Orange County will be allowed to wear non-uniform dress on Friday, May 7!
Calling all Damaged Student Laptops
Does your student's laptop need repair? Now is the time to inspect your student's laptop for damages such as:
  • Cracked screens
  • Drop damage
  • Jammed buttons
  • Keys missing from the keyboard

If the answer is YES - please turn the damaged laptop in to the Serra IT Help Desk for repair by May 14. Students will be issued a replacement laptop if their laptop must be sent to HP for repairs.

FEE WAIVED: We are waiving the $50 warranty fee on all laptop repairs submitted to the Help Desk BY MAY 14 (the fee waiver does not apply to damaged power cords).
COVID-19 Protocol & Student Symptom Decision Tree
The CDC and the Orange County Health Care Agency continually review and adjust their suggested practices and protocols based on emerging information about COVID-19. This memo is to announce some important changes regarding St. Serra’s COVID-19 protocols based on CDC and OCHCA guidance. Effective January 1, 2021, St. Serra has updated the return-to-school policy when a student is exposed to COVID-19.
Great Job Battle of the Books Club
A job well done to our Battle of the Books (BOB) Club, "the Candy Bears" Team! They made it to the Top 8 Elite Teams in the afternoon rounds competing in the sudden death round against Mission Basilica's "Swallows on Fire" Team.
Desk Dividers Will Be Removed in TK & K Classes
With CDC guidelines changing, dividers in TK and Kindergarten will be removed starting Monday. Thank you!

Congratulations William H. Hannon Scholarship Award Recipients!
Congratulations to this year's William H. Hannon Memorial Scholarship contest winners, Emily E. and Carina T. Each year, every fourth-grade student conducts research and writes an essay about the life and influence of St. Junipero Serra, and two outstanding essays are selected by the Hannon Foundation. As our winners, Emily and Carina each received a William H. Hannon Scholarship Award of $1,000 toward their fifth-grade tuition at St. Junipero Serra Catholic School. Through the generosity of the foundation, our school will also receive a $1,000 grant toward our Educational Cost Assistance Fund. This is a wonderful accomplishment and we are extremely proud of these two young writers.
Thank You for Supporting Seasons Tuition Assistance Luncheon!
Last Sunday, St. Serra hosted our 8th annual Seasons Tuition Assistance Luncheon outdoors on our beautiful campus. We were blessed with tireless parent and student volunteers, great weather and many heartfelt messages about the importance of supporting our Tuition Assistance Program. We were amazed by the creative table hostesses who generously offered their creativity and resources to help bring this event to life. Click the video to view a quick recap.
