A MESSAGE FROM SR. PRINCIPAL, MR. TOLZDA

Dear St. Serra Parents:

This Monday, September 5, St. Serra Catholic School will be closed in observance of Labor Day. Late in the nineteenth century, labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions American workers had made to our nation’s strength, prosperity, and well-being. Today, Labor Day celebrates the social and economic achievements of our country’s workforce. While the concept of “labor” is most associated with work that requires strenuous effort, Labor Day has become a recognition of the contributions made by all occupations. This carries meaning for us as Catholics, for we are taught by Scripture that work is honorable, no matter what kind of occupation one may have.

Our staff makes many contributions here on a daily basis; some of those contributions are very visible - others are significant but “behind the scenes”. Nonetheless, all of these contributions are the keys to our school’s success. The contributions of every single employee on our campus helps to produce the end result we aspire to - a great experience and education for all of the children at our school.

I can attest that our St. Serra families work very hard as well. Living in Southern California, raising a family, and providing for their needs is not an easy undertaking. I am inspired by your efforts every single day.

Genesis 2:2 says “On the seventh day God completed the work he had been doing; he rested on the seventh day from all the work he had undertaken.” As Labor Day approaches, I encourage you to enjoy the day with family and friends, and take this opportunity to benefit from some much needed rest, relaxation and rejuvenation.

Always striving,

Tim Tolzda

Sr. Principal

If you are walking your child to/from campus, you may drop them off or pick them up at the chapel gate, or drop them off at the walker gate (mornings only) which is located on the Banderas side of the PEB. However, you may not enter the campus from these locations.

Note: Preschool parents, due to state requirements to physically sign your child in/out of school daily, are exempt from this policy.
