Happy Thanksgiving!
Fr. Joachim included in his homily at today's School Mass a message of giving thanks for all of the many blessings given to us by our Creator. Ask your student(s) if they recall any of the homily to both emphasize this message, as well as encourage students to learn from each Mass they attend. Happy Thanksgiving from all the faculty and staff of Saint Theresa Catholic School.

Saint Theresa Presents ...
Disney's The Lion King Jr.
with your help ...
Shortly after returning from Christmas break, Saint Theresa Catholic School will begin rehearsals for our annual spring musical. Due to schedules, the production will be earlier in the year than in the past - yest still another exceptional opportunity for our students to learn and display their theatrical talents.

It will take many volunteer hours to insure that our students have this experience that has come to be known as unique to the Saint Theresa community. Please help by sharing your talents and time with the many others who join forces each year.

To help and learn more details about the musical, please see the online volunteer sign up page.

Thank you for all that you do for the students of Saint Theresa!
Saint Theresa Little Flower Garden Project
Help Fr. JC bring gardening to our students
Fr. JC Ortiz:
"It's Time!"

An exciting opportunity to bring the wonder of gardening to Saint Theresa. The instructional garden is envisioned to provide opportunities for students to experience horticulture and satisfy curiosity while enhancing the beauty of the Saint Theresa grounds. The project can only come to fruition with your generosity and commitment. Please consider a donation. Each donation supports this exciting addition to Saint Theresa. By clicking here , you will have the opportunity to support the Saint Theresa Little Flower Garden project. Please consider giving at one of the levels that will be acknowledged with a gift to our faculty. A copy of Fr. JC Ortiz's book "The Gardens of Sedona" is available as well.

Giving Tuesday is drawing near!   Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports charitable giving, and we are taking it a step further!
This year, Catholic Education Arizona is pleased to offer a Matching Gift opportunity for all Tax Credit Contributions that are made, received, or postmarked on Giving Tuesday, November 27, 2018. CEA will match these Tax Credit Contributions at a 100%, Dollar for Dollar basis!
Recruiting - Good for everyone!
It simply makes sense that the best way to spread tuition costs across more students, increase diversity of our student population, and build our community is to ask our friends and neighbors to join us at Saint Theresa Catholic School. When talking to others about STCS, consider pointing out that STCS:

  • Encourages individual and critical thinking. Our teachers are expert at developing critical thinking skills, and our students learn to be articulate as well as kind.

  • Prepares students for high school. Our alumni return year after year telling us that they were "well prepared" for the rigors of high school - and their success verifies their remarks.

  • Emphasizes strong in-person communication skills. STCS students are proficient in not only utilizing the latest technology, but strive to be good writers, good speakers and disciples of Christ.

If you know of anyone interested in applying at Saint Theresa's, please refer them to Heather Chapman. Help keep out enrollment strong!
Parent Survey
STCS needs your input!
Parents, please take a moment to share your thoughts by completing this online survey. Your answers will be used to inform faculty and staff discussions when developing goals and action plans during the STCS accreditation process.

Participation incentive! The survey is anonymous, but you will be asked for your student's grade level(s). For each grade level that reaches 85% participation by  Wednesday December 12th,  the grade level will be awarded a free dress day on Friday, December 14th.

The average time to complete the survey is estimated to be 15 minutes. Thank you for taking this time to help us prepare for the next 6 years!

Candy for the Troops Update
A BIG thank you to Kelly Bennan, Jeanne Birmingham, Sarah Churchill, Janetta Freeland and Doug Patriquin for all of your hard work!

From Colin Williams, Red Cross: "Off loaded the candy at the Fort Bliss Red Cross office. Everyone here is blown away by the candy and the perfect packaging. No joke, people are thrilled, smiles from ear to ear. One volunteer said 'this is better than Christmas!' Thank you!"
Families for Caring!

Families for Caring
The holidays are right around the corner and a Christmas tree is up by the school office  filled with ornaments. Each ornament represents a gift to purchase for someone less fortunate than ourselves.
Our goal is to help children and families have a brighter Christmas morning.

The agencies you will support by picking an ornament and buying a gift this year include:

   ·    Used jogger strollers for teens who cannot afford medical wheelchairs (Ryan House)
·      Residents of Verde Villas apartments across the street on Thomas Road (Catholic Charities
·      Refugee children new to Arizona this year (Catholic Charities)
·      Gift of Mary Shelter located in south Phoenix (St. Teresa of Calcutta’s religious order)
·      Pastoral Care Ministry
·      Our St Vincent de Paul parish conference (families in our neighborhood)
·      Local neighborhood schools: we have adopted families and will also assist with school nurse and
teachers’ supplies

It is so beautiful to see parishioners and school families give with grateful hearts to ensure  our neighbors have a Merry Christmas through this outreach program.

Thank you! Questions: Anne Vogel 602-315-0130

Innovation Learning

Dear St. Theresa Families,
This past week at Innovation Learning, students enjoyed learning about Francis Scott Key’s poem and song, “Star Spangled Banner” in honor of Veteran’s Day. The rest of the week has been focused on Space exploration with the Hubble Telescope and the SOHO, and satellites. Students enjoyed our “Spark Space” outdoor team-building activity- “Four planets.” Instead of numbers, the astronaut called out the planets. If the student chose that planet, they acted out characteristics of the planet. Enjoy your holiday weekend! - Ms. Tufts
