Christmas Day Masses
10:00am, 12:00pm (Spanish)

  • All Masses will be in the church (there will be no double Masses).
  • Our Masses have limited capacity to allow for proper social distancing. The limit for inside the church building (nave and narthex) is 450.
  • When we have reached 450, no one else will be admitted inside, however, you are welcome to stay outside and we will make sure that you receive Holy Communion if you desire to.
  • All are required to wear a cloth face covering in all public indoor settings.
  • We have eight scheduled Masses (7 in English). Those attending will have a better chance of celebrating inside if a potentially less attended Mass is targeted and you arrive early (we anticipate the 1:00pm, 2:30pm and 4:00pm Masses on Christmas Eve will be the most well attended).
  • All Masses will be streamed LIVE from our church website.
**Please note that the Faithful of the Diocese of Charlotte continue to be dispensed from their Sunday obligation.**

Remember your face covering when attending Mass. If you do not have one, free masks are available in the Narthex!

Mass updates will be posted on the website: sainttherese.net/mass-schedule
This Weekend at St. Therese
Our Lady of Guadalupe Masses
Celebrate our Patroness of the Americas, Our Lady of Guadalupe! Spanish Masses on Friday, December 11 at 11:00pm (with Mariachi band) and Saturday, December 12 at 12:00pm.

Both Masses will be streamed LIVE on our website and the Friday night Mass will also be streamed to our Facebook page!
Retirement Fund for Religious 2nd Collection is this weekend!
Make a difference. “Every dollar makes a difference in covering our expenses,” says a Trappist abbot. Hundreds of US religious communities struggle to provide for aging members because most senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests served for little pay. Your gift to the Retirement Fund for Religious helps these communities bridge the gap, offering support for medications, nursing care, and other necessities. Please be generous.
A message from Fr. Mark
New Vigil Lamps:  Since the early centuries of the Church, candles have been used in prayer and worship. At the core of a reflection on candles is the reminder that Jesus is the true light of the world and those who follow Him will not walk in darkness (Jn.8:12).  The Paschal Candle represents our Lord's victory, His Resurrection. At every Mass at least two candles are placed on or near the altar.
Candles may be used in prayer vigils and have been placed at shrines and at the tombs of saints. Vigil candles have long been a part of votive offerings as an expression of piety and devotion with a particular intention in mind such as the eternal peace of someone who has died or the recovery of a loved one.
The traditional devotion continues with our new system of electronic vigil lamps. You may light a lamp by pushing a red button and express your intention in prayer. You may place your votive offerings in the offertory box. The new vigil lamps are low maintenance, safer, clean and very low voltage. They should serve us for many years to come.
Together, we trust in the mercy of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and in the intercession and love of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Our Lady of Grace, pray for us
Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have mercy on us

Fr. Mark
We also have a new vigil lamp in the St. Ignatius Day Chapel! All were purchased from a restricted donation given in 2017. We are asking for a $2 donation per candle.  We have not yet determined where the current stands will be relocated.

Sacrament of Penance during Advent
We will have the opportunity for the Sacrament of Penance on Tuesday, December 15 from 5:30pm - 7:00pm in the church.

The celebrant for the 9:00am Mass will be available for confessions immediately after the weekday Masses during Advent. It is best to check in with the celebrant before the Mass, so he will be aware of your request.

Buy Fair-Trade Chocolate to Combat Slavery
As you make your Advent and Christmas candy purchases, please remember that YOUR ACTIONS CAN CREATE CHANGE. To ensure that the chocolate you buy is not made by child labor or slave trade, read the label and seek products that support the people and the environment where the item originates.

Here are some third-party organization labels that indicate ethical policies are in place.

As conscientious consumers, we have the power to support greater causes through our purchases. Thank you for shopping ethically this Christmas and combating human trafficking!

End of Year Giving
End of Year Giving:
Just a reminder for those discerning an end of year donation…you may fulfill your pledge for the Diocesan Support Appeal or contribute to our Christmas Second Collection for “Priests’ Retirement Collection Shortfall/Facilities”. As we have done the past few years, this Christmas Second Collection will be applied first to fulfill our Assessment for the Retired Priests; then any amount we receive over our assessment will be applied to Facility Maintenance. Some parishioners may also want to make a donation for debt reduction for the debt of the Sunfish Drive property, or make an additional contribution for our General Offertory for Operational Expenses. Many thanks for your generosity!
