On Wednesday evening, July 19, 2017 at 7:30 pm, in Burke Hall, Deacon Christopher Tipton will be hosting an information session on the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) classes forming in the fall.
RCIA introduces the Catholic faith to non-Catholics and those with no formal Christian instruction, including those who may have been baptized Catholic but have not had the opportunity to participate in a faith formation program leading to Confirmation. If you are interested or know someone who can benefit from this, please join us to find out more.
Additionally, if you can not make it this Wednesday evening, there will be another information session on Monday, August 7, 2017, at 8:30 pm in the Rectory Conference Room.
Rev. Robert J. Rippy
Rite of Christian Initiation
If you are interested in becoming Catholic — whether by Baptism (if you have never been baptized) or Profession of Faith (if you have been baptized in another religion) or if you would like to find out what the Catholic Church is all about — this program is for you.
Those who discern that they would like to become Catholic will receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil Mass. In addition to the weekly sessions, we celebrate the Rites and Blessings of the RCIA on several different Sundays throughout the year.
RCIA classes are held on Mondays beginning on September 11, 2017 and continuing through April. The classes are usually from 7:30pm until 9:00pm in Burke Hall.
If you would like more information, please complete the form below and return it to the rectory.
Books recommended to purchase for the RCIA class will be a Catholic Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
- New American Bible (the translation you’ll hear at Mass) ISBN-13 978-0195298048
- Revised Standard Version (NOT New Revised Standard Version) ISBN-13 978-0898708332
- Any other NAB or RSV Bible will be fine as well.
- Catechism of the Catholic Church ISBN-13: 978-0385479677
For more information, please contact the Director of Christian Initiation, Rev. Christopher P. Christensen, at 703-525-1300, Email: email@example.com
