We are pleased to announce the launching of the Cathedral's new website. Our goal with this new interactive website is to provide our parishioners and visitors easier access and tools to learn about the Cathedral's ministries, browse information about our faith and be informed about happenings at the Cathedral.
This new website features links to catholic resources, how to get involved with our community, online forms, as well as a mobile friendly format. When you have an opportunity, take a look - we hope you find this improved experience as another way to better serve our faith community.
Also, please mark your calendar to join newly ordained Father Vaccaro at his first Mass at the Cathedral on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 11:00 am. A reception will follow in Lee Hall (school gym).

English as a Second Language (ESL) Program
The ESL Program provides basic English language and life skills instruction to parishioners whose native language is not English.
We glorify God by:
- Teaching adults and children to understand, speak, read, and write English
- Teaching about American culture and customs
This program is for everyone in need, young or old, rich or poor, for all races and creeds of the world, parishioner or non parishioner, Catholic or non-Catholic. Classes are free. Classes are taught at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Classes are held at the STM School on Sunday from 2pm to 4pm and Tuesday nights from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
Classes start the first Sunday after Labor day. Student registration is during the month of August after the Hispanic Mass.
Volunteers are Needed to Teach English
The next classes start in Fall 2017.
Come join a team of energetic, creative, and happy people teaching English to our non-English-speaking parishioners. Have fun, be blessed, and learn some Spanish along the way.
If you enjoy working with people and changing their lives this is an opportunity to serve our Lord. You will be trained how to teach a foreign language to adults.
Volunteers are needed on Sunday afternoons from 2 pm to 4 pm, and/or on Tuesday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. A commitment of one year is needed.
To join the program, please call the STM Cathedral office (703-525-1300) and leave a message for Nanda or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

What is the Fortnight for Freedom?
The Fortnight for Freedom is an annual 14-day event held in dioceses and parishes across the United States to raise awareness about the importance of religious freedom.
Launched in the summer of 2011 by the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops (USCCB), the Fortnight for Freedom initiative serves as a vital channel for promoting the preservation and protection of our religious liberty through prayer and activism across the country.

Help Feed the Hungry Children this Summer!
Vacation Bible School and the Lucy Project Team Up to provide meals for Kids in Need
Focusing on the Catholic Response to hunger in our diocese, this summer, the Cathedral will participate in The Lucy Project initiative to feed Hungry Children.
Every Catholic will have an opportunity to live out his/her faith by engaging in this outreach to the hungry. As Christ said:
‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’ (Matt 25:40)
The Vacation Bible School under the direction of Lynn Jones, Director of Religious Education, will be spearheading this initiative. Campers will help pack breakfast and lunch meal packs for kids throughout the Diocese who during the school year receive free breakfast and lunch. The food pack will contain a well-balanced nutritious meal. You can drop off your donations in Burke Hall after all Masses beginning on June 10, 2017. There will be boxes marked located near the entrance for this effort.
If you would like to help with this effort, we are looking for donations of the following items:
- Single Service size shelf stable boxed milk or chocolate milk
- Individual packs of Goldfish
- Single serving cracker packs
- Individual peanut butter ‘to go’ cups
- Vacuum sealed tuna packs
- Single serving cans of tuna/chicken/Vienna sausage
- Individual fruit cups
If you have any questions, please contact the Rectory office at (703)525-1300.
