Pastor Kari Rinas
Installed at
St. Thomas Lutheran Church
Congratulations to Pastor Kari Rinas
on her installation as St. Thomas' pastor
on Saturday afternoon, November 5.
The ceremony was stately, beautiful
and meaningful. Pastor Sean Ewbank officiated at the installation, as well as readings from Pastor David Montgomery, Rev. Philiip Dinwiddie
and Pastor Andrew Chavonak.
In addition to a large group of St. Thomas
members, the event was attended by Kari's family, her husband Pr. Joshua Rinas, and
Rev. Jack Eggleston were also in attendance. Picks and Bows provided lovely music before and
during the service. A beautiful reception followed with assorted appetizers, cake and punch.
Welcome, Pastor Kari!
Thanks to you all for making church a great experience
from the very beginning!
Busy Bags
for Little Ones
A BIG round of applause for our own
Andrea Kujala for making a bunch of
bright and cheery activity bags
for our youngest church-goers.
Andrea is an expert seamstress
and also puts her sewing skill
to work with the quilters each Monday.
Pastor Kari and Linda Landis
filled the bags with exciting and fun activities.
Samaritas Congregational Update
from Rev. Beth Birkholz
Refugees
In 2021, even in the midst of the crisis in Afghanistan, Samaritas welcomed over 1500 refugees. In 2022 we will welcome many more than that, thanks to your work of donations, co-sponsorship, and prayers! As Ukrainian refugees continue to arrive, as well as those from many other countries, we will need your support to continue to welcome them home to Michigan.

Family Preservation Program
In the Family Preservation program, over 90% of the families served were successful in not needing to utilize foster care! This program continues to grow and achieve the goal of helping families reunite and stay together.

Introducing...Legacy Adoption Services
The former Lutheran Adoption Services has become Legacy Adoption Services. This decision was made out of great concern and care to serve as many children as possible without barriers. This also respects the history of Lutheran Adoption Services originally being a merger of the ELCA
and Missouri Synod Lutheran churches.

AFFORDABLE LIVING NEWS
Samaritas will open its 16th Affordable Living community in Muskegon later this month! An Open House will take place on Friday, November 18 at 11:30 am
at 785 Spring Street in downtown Muskegon.
Area pastors and leaders are welcomed to attend!
