Letter from the Principal, Dr. John Walker,

Greetings from St. Vincent's on the eve of our centennial! Indeed, we turn one hundred years old in 2017-18, and every day I see the picture of our first graduating class on the wall in my office. The profound sense of tradition that we enjoy from our first hundred years is a cherished aspect of the St. Vincent's community.
We opened this year with the benefit of our newly installed campus-wide Wi-Fi, the result of a campaign last year that now provides internet access for all devices of our students and teachers, enabling us to maximize the best teaching practices afforded by contemporary technology. Among many other programs, this enhanced infrastructure supports our new Computer Graphics and Design class, this year's inauguration of SVTV, and our Digital Media Program, which was funded by substantial grants from PEF and PFO.   Read Full Letter

Alumni Highlight

Jessica Barron, Class of 2013

While attending SVHS, Jessica began singing the national anthem at football games when a halftime singer failed to show up.  This was her first solo performance and she continued to sing at most of the home games for the remainder of the season.

Jessica began sharing music videos of herself singing on Instagram and was contacted by Tambora Records International LLC.  She signed with them in March, released her first single "No Puedo" and wrapped up production on the song's music video.

Jessica is currently a sophomore at the Dominican University of California's nursing program.  She's working on the lyrics for her second single and sings in a duo at 10:30a.m. Sunday mass at St. Vincent's Church.

Here she is with her mom, and manager, before singing the national anthem at SV's 2016 Homecoming game.

I interviewed Cullen on his current life, his St. Vincent High School experience, and what has changed since he was last playing football for the Mustangs. Click here for full article

Mike's sister, and fellow alum, Catherine (Mariano) Roby  '99 came to support her big bro.

Nicole Hupke 2011 - January 2017
Nicole Hupke, Class of 2011, currently works for the Golden State Warriors.  She spoke to the students about her individual path and the challenges of knowing what you want to "be when you grow up".  She reassured the students that it's alright not to have it all figured out right now.  She encouraged them to pursue something they enjoy and a career they love will follow.

The Future of Journalism at SVHS
by
Alyssa Morgan, '18

This year, the St. Vincent High School journalism class is reaching out in multiple ways outside of just our traditional newspaper. After a few long weeks of planning, meetings, and thinking, we decided to begin the process of launching a YouTube channel called SVTV. On this channel we would put interviews, sports updates, and our new announcement system. On September 20, we began for many weeks to film our daily announcements Tuesdays, to both engage the student body more and make it overall easier on the teachers and staff.

The Centennial is Here - July 2017 through June 2018

The 2017-18 school year will represent the 100 year anniversary of
St. Vincent de Paul High School (SVHS). Over 3,500 students graduated from SVHS to date.  There is so much history to be proud of...and YOU are a very important part of that history!  From July 2017 through the graduation of the Class of 2018, we will celebrate the school's centennial year. We are  looking for a few good men and women to form a SVHS Centennial Committee
and chair the event.
