Christ has risen - HALLELUJAH

Thank you to everyone that was able to join us for Easter Mass.
We have Little White Books for Easter Season
So many parishioners have enjoyed the Little Black Book during the season of Lent, this year we purchased the Little White Book for Easter Season. Unfortunately we are unable to distribute them. We have received permission from the company to have the little White Book available to you ONLINE. Click the button below to download your own Little White Book for Easter.
Message from your Pastor
This June, I will have completed twelve years as serving as your pastor. Normally the Archdiocese would assign a pastor to a different parish after that time. The Priest Personnel Board began a discussion with me last summer at which time I voiced a desire to remain at St. Vincent’s. At that time, they were very open to that idea.  This past February, I was contacted again.  The situation in the archdiocese had changed and the archbishop was asking me to take a different assignment.  Then the coronavirus hit. Out of concern to provide consistent pastoral care for the People of God during this pandemic, the Archbishop now has extended the terms of most pastors who were completing their tenures, as well as my term at St. Vincent’s, until June 30, 2021.   After that, I do not know if I will be asked to move or allowed to stay.

What I do know is that this coming year we will continue to work together to get through this pandemic, relying on God’s gifts of faith, hope and charity.  Together we will work to rebuild our community – in some ways weakened by this pandemic, but in other ways made all the more stronger. What I ask you to do now is to find concrete ways you can express faith, hope and charity. For when they are expressed they are made stronger – we are made stronger.   In your prayer, continue to ask God for these gifts. If you are able, continue your financial support to the parish and other charities, especially the area’s food banks. If you are not able because of a loss of job or other circumstances do not hesitate to reach out for help. Together we will get through this.  Due to the amazing generosity of parishioners, we are at about 60% of our normal income.  Emergency savings are currently keeping us afloat.

The Easter message is “Do not be afraid.”  Fear is indeed present, but we can strive to say “no” to it. Use common sense and good medical knowledge to keep safe and healthy – physically, mentally and emotionally. Use acts of faith, hope and charity to stay spiritually healthy and combat fear. This keeps us focused on the Risen Lord who has promised always to be with us.

St. Vincent's Prayer Imitative
We invite parishioners to sign up for a 30 minute prayer period so that prayer is constantly being offered throughout the day for our parish, for those suffering because of this pandemic and for those on the front lines of caring for sick and engaged in essential businesses for the common good. Pray as you like. It could be a rosary, liturgy of the hours, silent meditation, scripture reading or just talking to God.

No Facebook, No problem:

You are now able to watch Live with us even if you don't have a Facebook account. We will be putting the link to our live broadcast on our parish webpage, under Recorded Masses.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and the Shelter at Home Order we did not gather together on Holy Thursdays, which means you were unable to bring in your Rice Bowls.

We are asking parishioners if instead of brining their Rice Bowls to the church they instead write a check for the amount they placed in their Rice Bowl, or for an amount they would like to give. Checks can be mailed to the Parish Office at 30525 8th Ave S, Federal Way 98003 or you can go to our online giving site and make a one time donation to "Rice Bowl".

Thank you to everyone for giving to this important ministry.

Pray For:
At the Easter Vigil we were supposed to welcome into our Church all of our brothers and sisters in Christ who have been preparing all year long and have been attending our RCIA classes. Unfortunately due to the pandemic we have had to postpone them receiving their sacraments. On April 25th many of our children were preparing to receive their First Eucharist, and this too has had to be postponed. Please keep them all in your prayers, that they can be welcomed into the Church and receive their Sacraments as soon as possible.
