The Vatican Report

This week, the Vatican released its report on the sexual abuse committed by the former cardinal Theodore McCarrick and the failure of church authorities both on the east coast and Rome to address it in a timely manner.  The report is disturbing, but important and necessary. I hope it signals that the Universal Church is becoming more transparent and better at dealing with this crisis. I hope we are entering a new era of healing.

Here in the Archdiocese of Seattle, beginning with the leadership of Archbishop Raymond Hunthausen in the ‘80’s, we have been dealing with the abuse crisis in an open and transparent manner. Our policy is to involve civil authorities whenever there is an accusation of criminal abuse. The archdiocesan webpage provides details about our own abuse history, our commitment to action, the public list of those credibly accused, the role of the Archdiocesan Review Board, the new Catholic Bishop Abuse Reporting Service, and our financials tied to abuse case settlements. We have trained thousands of people to recognize the signs of abuse in order to protect the vulnerable.

It is always painful to hear how the church has failed. Let us continue to pray for the healing of victims of abuse and healing for our church.
-Fr. Bill
A note from your Parish Administrator
Parish Stewardship

Our stewardship cards are coming in! Thank you to all who have returned your pledge card or who have pledged online. However, we are still quite a bit behind where we usually are because of our limited ability to gather for Mass. Please do not forget to pledge! We will be sending out reminders next week, so use the postage paid envelope to return your pledge card to the office, drop it at Mass or in the black box outside the parish office, or go online to pledge through our website at

2020 Christmas Gift Cards for a Wounded Warrior

COVID 19 has made our annual Christmas Gift Card program more important and our collection a bit more challenging. Please consider supporting this program to support those who have given so much. Our Christmas Program to serve our Wounded Warriors is designed to empower the Warrior to purchase food for Christmas dinner, goods for family needs, or gas for medical appointments. This give a gift card program targets specific needs. Our Gift Card Program is a way to say Thank You for ALL they have done to keep us free. GIFT cards in amounts of $20, $25, $50, $75, $100 or even more are greatly needed! GIFT cards to Fred Meyer, Safeway, Walmart, Target, Amazon, or gas cards to ARCO and Chevron are requested by our Wounded Warriors. Please stay to this list as these stores are in most areas and give the most amount for your dollar!
How can you help? Starting October 19, 2020 through November 29, 2020, you can purchase gift cards and mail them to the address listed below. Why do we do this so early? So, you have time to help without the pressure of your holidays and so we can get your donations to the troops by their December 1st need date. Please be generous. Our goal is to provide 300 Warriors with gift cards. It means so much to those who have so bravely served. If you have any questions please contact Tony Robinson at
Thank you for your generous support.

Mail your gift cards to: Tony Robinson 31219 4th Ave SW Federal Way , WA 98023
