UPDATE AS OF NOVEMBER 16, 2020
ST. BERNARDINE EMERGENCY OPERATION APPEAL

Dear Parishioners,

By now, you should have received Fr. Michael’s Emergency Operations Appeal letter. As ministry continues at St. Bernardine, unfortunately, the funds to maintain our operations have dwindled significantly. We hope that you will give prayerful contemplation of this request. A copy of the letter and a link to our online giving service are available below and at our church website. Thank you for your consideration and continued support and our deepest thanks to those who have already contributed! God bless!

CATHOLIC CHARITIES - HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE

There are two ways you can get involved to assist low-income and homeless families in our community during the holidays.

ADOPT-A-FAMILY PROGRAM - Guadalupe Center. The center will distribute gift cards to hundreds of families this holiday season. This small and simple gesture shows great compassion and restores human dignity enabling families to make their own holiday purchases. The center's goal is to sponsor at least 25 people with a total gift of $500 or more. Cash or checks made payable to the Guadalupe Center can be dropped off in the baskets at 7AM Mass or drive through Communion (please clearly mark for Guadalupe Center) or in our Parish Office until Friday, December 11th. If the office is closed, you may put your donation into our mailbox.

TOY DRIVE PARTY - The Guadalupe Center will be hosting a Christmas Party. The center will offer hundreds of children (ages 0-12) with a new gift from Santa Claus! New, unwrapped gifts can be donated to the Guadalupe Community Center directly or dropped off by the church on Sundays or in our Parish Office by Friday, December 11th.
MASS INFORMATION

Since daylight savings time ended, we have seen a lot more parishioners coming to our daily and weekend Masses. We are so happy to see you! We also noticed more sunlight and heat during Mass. Since our tent is limited in size, some parishioners have had to sit outside and around the tent. Please protect yourself from the heat and sun by wearing head and eye coverings or using an umbrella. Also, please plan on bringing your own chair since we have a limited amount available. Thank you.

FAITH FORMATION CLASSES

Faith Formation sessions, for children in grades 1-6, have begun. The children are learning about what we believe; how we worship, live and pray. Sacred Scripture with activities serve as the background each week and include preparation for the First Sacraments. Sessions are conducted online until it is safe to return to in-person classes. The sessions take place on Tuesdays at 4:00 PM. Family resources and childrens' books are provided. For more information, please contact, Eileen Fewless, Faith Formation Director, at [email protected] or call, 818-340-1440. To register, go to: Faith Formation 2020 Registration Form

Forms should be dropped off or mailed to: Eileen Fewless - St. Bernardine of Siena Parish, 24410 Calvert Street, Woodland Hills, CA 91367

Please note: THERE IS NO CLASS ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2020.
WILL YOU ANSWER THE CALL?

The children are gathered and no one has answered the call to share the faith with them. We are still in need of catechists for our first and fifth grades. Can you spare 20-30 minutes a week? The classes are small, the need is great. Meetings are held at 4:00 PM until about 4:30 PM on Tuesdays using Zoom. Parents are the primary catechist; your job will be to pray and review the materials provided. Following Safety Guidelines, two adults or assistants are required in every class. If interested or for questions, please contact Eileen Fewless at [email protected] or at (818) 340-1440.
