ST. BERNARDINE ONLINE AUCTION

St. Bernardine's Elementary School is preparing for their Fall Online Auction, to be held November 5-15, 2021. The school plans to use the proceeds from this event towards creating a school library for its students. Below is a letter about the auction, a list of suggested new donated items, and a donation form. Donations are being collected now until October 22, 2021.

For any questions, contact Auction Committee Chair, Lizz Bennett at [email protected]. Thank you for your support of our school!

CHURCH REGISTRATION

Why you should register at St. Bernardines? We encourage all who worship here to become registered parishioners to promote a spirit of belonging. Being registered makes the process much easier when it is time for infant baptisms, school or religious education enrollments, weddings, when asked to be a baptismal or confirmation sponsor, and funerals. Simply attending Mass here does not make you a registered parishioner. Below is a link to a Parish Registration Form. Forms can also be found on the parish website, www.stbernardine.org or from the Parish Office. Please return completed forms into the office.

Registered already? Please check with our Parish Office to see if your information is updated in our system. You can also send an email with your updates to [email protected] or call (818) 888-8200. Thank you.

WE WANT YOU!

As we bring back more services, we are in need of volunteers especially for the upcoming Sunday 8:30AM and 11:30AM Masses beginning in November. We are looking for:

Ushers
Eucharistic Ministers
Lectors
Cross Bearers
Altar Servers (Grades 4-12)

If you were part of these ministries before, we would love to have you back. If you are new, we are happy to train you. No experience is necessary. For school parents, parish volunteer hours count towards your service hour requirements.

We are in need of more Altar Servers. Altar serving is available to students in grades 4-12. Training is available and all new servers are paired with an experienced server for the Masses. Altar serving hours count towards community service requirements for most schools. Lastly, we are looking for an Altar Server Coordinator.

Look for the ministry table after the Masses this weekend and next to get more information. You can also contact Cathy Barkes at (747) 888-9758 or at [email protected].

Thank you for wanting to serve your parish!

BIBLE STUDY - GENESIS

Please join us as we share our insights into the first book of the Bible, Genesis.  What do the creation stories tell us? Why don't we live in Paradise? Why are we alienated from God? Who were Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph? How do their lives relate to ours?

Bible Study takes place via Zoom on Monday evenings from 7PM- 8:30PM, and in person on Tuesdays from 9:15AM-10:45AM in the Church library.
If you wish to be added to the Zoom list, please call the Parish office at (818) 888-8200. Please bring your Bible for the Tuesday morning session. Light refreshments will be served.

ALPHA

What is Alpha? Alpha is a place to explore the Christian Faith with others. It is a low pressure environment to discuss the big questions in life. Every Alpha session has three key ingredients: Food, Talk & Discussion.
  • Food - Alpha is relational. Each Alpha session begins with a shared meal.
  • Talk - Every week, there is a talk that explores the basics of the Christian faith.
  • Discussion - After the talk, there is a time of discussion in small groups where guests can share their thoughts and questions.

Meetings are Monday nights at 6:30PM in the Parish Center. Please sign up so that we know how much food to prepare. Bring a friend! Contact Bob Nicholas at (818) 340-2087 or at [email protected]

FAITH FORMATION
Grades 1-6

Classes have begun but it's not too late to register for Faith Formation at St. Bernardines. On site classes are held Tuesday afternoons from 4PM-5:30PM for first through sixth grades. All catechists and students are required to wear face masks in the classrooms. No adults are allowed beyond the gate.

The "Blest Are We Faith in Action" religious education program was developed according to the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. These four parts of the Catechism are identified by the words: Believe, Worship, Live, and Pray. Sacred Scripture with activities serves as the background each week. We also offer Homeschool materials.

A monthly resource packet will be sent home for families to share the Faith with your children. Preparation for the First Sacraments is also part of the program. To register, please complete the fillable form and return it to the Parish Office.

For any questions, please contact Eileen Fewless at [email protected] or (818) 340-1440.

Seven days with our a prayer makes one weak!
Don't forget to pray daily. Remind your children of their morning and night prayers. God is present to us always and is waiting talk to us.
FAITH FORMATION

Are you a good storyteller? If so, come and tell stories of Jesus to the children. It is that simple. We still need catechists for our Faith Formation program. To learn more, contact Eileen Fewless at [email protected] or (818) 340-1440.
