Finishing the Year Strong

We've had a great first half of the year at St. Cecilia School and Academy.

Field trips, interactive learning, MRCC retreats and more - all of it is made possible by the support of the St. Cecilia community. We thank you for all you do and are looking forward to a great second half of the school year.
The Fish Fry Returns

After two years of curbside only service, St. Cecilia's is preparing to bring back our Famous Fish Fry as an in-person event. The Fish Fry will be held every Friday during Lent beginning February 24 and ending March 31. Online reservations will be available beginning with the Fish Fry on March 3.

St. Cecilia is incredibly proud of our Fish Fry, which draws 1,200 or more attendees each Friday, from the entire St. Louis Metropolitan region. Mark your calendars and make plans to join us during Lent. Our event has become the destination Fish Fry for people across the community.

Meet the Teacher:
William Dunn-Sarmiento

William Dunn-Sarmiento is in his 3rd year at St. Cecilia School and Academy. He is the Academy math teacher, which is for middle school classes 6th to 8th grade. Prior to Academy, homeroom teachers handle most subjects and lessons. When students get to Academy, classes become more specialized with teachers dedicated to particular subjects.

For William, one of the great parts of St. Cecilia is the diversity of the community. “The fact that there's a strong Latino community, while at the same time being so welcoming to all, lets everyone celebrate their heritage and learn about others.” He works to share his passion for math with the students. “I love math for how straightforward it is. You can always get the right answer,” he says.

William also serves as a Family and Student Liaison. In this role, he works with students who may be having trouble concentrating or with behavior. With patience and empathy, he’s able to build a relationship with the students. “The development of the relationship from the first meeting where students might be a little defensive to where we’re communicating, not just on basic things, but real world examples is pretty big for me.”

William, as well as the students, faculty and staff of St. Cecilia, are so grateful to all those who support the school. Without the generosity of the extended school community, the achievements of our students would not be possible.

Technology Update

We are proud to announce that St. Cecilia is now a 1:1 Technology School. Through the generosity of our donors and with the help of grant funds, we will now be able to provide all students with an iPad or Chromebook as well as install ViewSonic Boards in all learning spaces.

The technology allows students to be active learners - making choices, developing skills and improving academically. It also prepares them for high school and beyond, where technology will become an even larger part of their learning experience.
