Speaking of Birthdays!

Happy Birthday Church! That’s right, it’s our Birthday! Pentecost Fire, Power and Love is the birthday of the church! And what is the soul of the church? The Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit completes the work of God in the Body of Christ, i.e. you and me. In a million and one ways,The Holy Spirit brings us into the fullness of life (see John 10:10), truth, goodness and beauty. Anytime and anyway you come into the presence of Jesus and are further changed into Him, that is the Holy Spirit! Pray about how you see The Holy Spirit in your life and share that with others!
Dear friends, since the Holy Spirit is the soul of our church, we need to make it the PRIORITY of our lives just like Our Mother Mary did. Remember, we are not looking for a one-time encounter or a dating relationship, but we are looking to marry The Holy Spirit. Here’s the greatest news: All Day, Every Day! The Holy Spirit is seeking entrance into our hearts all the day long, every day.
I just finished my Rosary run. As I was near the rectory, my eyes were drawn to a leaf. It was in the shape of a heart. I went to pick it up and it flew closer to the church. The Holy Spirit then spoke to me, “That heart shaped leaf represents love and I am leading you into total love in the church!” Awesome!

All Day, Every Day!

I love you,

+ Fr John Amsberry

Peter's Pence
A special collection will be taken up on June 27th. Pope Francis calls each of us to witness to charity and to show God's mercy to one another. He encourages us to "open our eyes and see the misery of the world, the wounds of our brothers and sisters who are denied their dignity, and let us recognize that we are compelled to heed their cry for help!" (Misericordiae Vultus [MV], no. 15). The Peter's Pence Collection unites us in solidarity to the Holy See and its works of charity to those in need. Your generosity allows the Pope to respond to our suffering brothers and sisters.

DEAR SCBP FAMILY...
I pray that this Weekly Update finds you well...As we make our way toward the end of the year, each day is full of energy and excitement. Students are busy preparing for Mary's Day and 8th Grade Graduation...and teachers and staff are planning fun activities for the last week of school. On the heels of a remarkable year of learning at SCBA, we have some exciting changes in store for next year.

Welcome….
Last week, Mrs. Britni Coito accepted our offer to join SCBA’s administration. Mrs. Coito previously worked at SCBA in the Preschool as an Instructional Aide from 2010-2012 and as 2nd and 3rd Grade Teacher from 2012-2015. For the past four years, she has taught at St. Vincent de Paul School in Grades 6-8, and for the past year, she has acted as their Vice Principal in Curriculum and Instruction. She is excited to return home to our special community. We are still determining final responsibilities, but Mrs. Coito will be our part-time Vice Principal supporting teachers and staff in Curriculum and Instruction and providing student support through the Student Care Team. Mrs. Coito's hiring adds an additional full time staff member to our SCBA family and is the direct result of our successful fundraising this year.

… & Farewells
While we are always sad when someone leaves our SCBA family, we believe God has a plan in each of our lives and we are grateful for the time we have had together.

Early this week, Mrs. Davalos, our beloved 8th grade teacher and part-time Vice Principal, shared with me that she has accepted a full-time position as a Vice-Principal at The School of the Madeleine. Mrs. Davalos has been a wonderful servant, teacher, colleague, and friend to many in this community over the years, and we wish her all of the best as she moves forward in her professional career. God is obviously working and I’m excited to see HIS plan unfold. Please join me in praying for Mrs. Davalos as she makes this transition and reach out to her with gratitude and appreciation for all that she has done for our SCBA family.

As you may know, Mrs. Whitney Sanford will be leaving us as our 4th grade teacher. Mrs. Sanford has been such a lovely addition to our St. Charles community - first, as a substitute teacher and this year as our fulltime 4th grade teacher. I have been moved by her faithfulness and example throughout the year and by her dedication and care for her students. While we would love to have Mrs. Sanford stay forever, family always comes first, and Mrs. Sanford and her family have plans to move out of the state in the near future. We look forward to having her on campus in the Fall as a substitute prior to their move. Mrs. Sanford, you will be dearly missed.

Other staff news
Miss Victoria Smith (currently teaching 2nd grade) will be our 4th grade teacher next year! Miss Smith looks forward to teaching new curriculum with students near and dear to her heart. We are so excited to see all of the fun plans that Miss Smith has for the 4th Grade class in 2021-2022!

Miss Charlotte Benedict, the long term substitute for Mrs. Felty, has accepted a position as SCBA's 5th Grade teacher for next year. Miss Benedict's energy, enthusiasm, and supportive nature are qualities that make her a perfect fit for this position. Miss Benedict graduated from Marymount University with a degree in Special Education grades K-12 with a concentration in Language Arts and the Humanities. She attended Catholic schools from kindergarten all the way through college. We are blessed to welcome her into our SCBA community.

Next steps...
We are currently interviewing candidates for 2nd grade and 8th grade. I am so excited about the candidates I have already met and I am praying for God’s guidance for SCBA. I have no doubt that next year will be successful and full of faith. I will share updates with you as soon as possible. Please keep our beloved Academy in your prayers as we move forward. I know that God has great things planned for our SCBA Family.

Praying for you and your families today and always! You are loved!

Mrs. Cota
