Contribution and Virtual Offering Plate
We are thankful to parishioners who pledge and are mailing their checks directly to the Transfiguration office, or have set up auto payment from your bank. It is very helpful that we continue income at this time as we seek to create connections to each other and maintain parish life. If you are not a pledger at Transfig, please do use our ‘virtual offering plate’ on the front page of our website to make a contribution to our work as you are able.
Happy Birthday

Faith and Wonder Walk
Saturday
October 10
9:30 am
Waterdog Lake Park, Lyall Dr. Entrance
|
|
|
Come celebrate the start of the Community of Wonder (C.O.W) program year with a family hike. All families are invited to a socially distanced walk at Waterdog Lake in Belmont. This is a great opportunity to appreciate the beauty of creation and the joy of seeing each other in person in a safe, healthy way. We will meet at the Lyall Drive entrance to the trail and walk up to the lake. It’s about a one mile hike to the lake and back on a wide trail. Dogs are welcome to come along as well. Bring along a water bottle and a snack and wear your face covering.

Welcome Back,

Welcome back to our community of wonder! All children are welcome to join us Mondays at 4pm beginning on October 12 for stories, games and activities. We will gather in the Faith Formation Zoom room. Come and greet old friends and make some new ones as we explore the wonder, wisdom, witness, welcome and other “wows” of our faith.

Peace Pantry at Hillsdale High School
Do you have a fruit tree with more fruit than you can use? Or extra vegetables in your garden that you’d like to share? Maybe you’ve baked cookies or bread and have some to share. If so, the Hillsdale Peace Pantry will gratefully accept your donations. Food from Second Harvest and Mi Rancho is distributed to 140 local families each week at Hillsdale High School through their Peace Pantry program. Transfiguration Church has partnered with the Peace Pantry since 2019 in their mission to provide healthy food and hygiene supplies to needy families in our neighborhood. Our parishioners have supported the program through financial contributions, and now we are also able to provide fresh food directly to hungry families. Food is distributed through the Peace Pantry every Friday morning at Hillsdale High School.

The book club will be meeting via zoom on
Saturday October 24 from 3:00-4:30.
Everyone is invited. We will read and discuss Sue Monk Kidd’s novel The Book of Longings. Several members of the congregation have already read this book and highly recommend it (and asked to have the book club read and discuss it). Zoom info to be made available at a later date.

Photo Directory Update - Send in new photos now!
I don’t know about you, but I use my church directory all the time to look up people’s addresses or e-mails. I write a lot of cards and send a lot of e-mails. When I look at my printed copy of the directory (from 2016) or my online version of the directory (from 2018), I love seeing the photos of my church family. Sadly (for me, anyway), not everyone has a photo. And in some cases (more noticeable with families whose children grow in leaps and bounds), the photos are clearly out of date. Let’s remedy this!
Many of us are stuck at home, and this would be a perfect time to gather together your clan, including animals if you like, and take a selfie! We’re not looking for studio-quality shots - just a picture that will enable us to have a face to go along with a name. This will be especially helpful for Bob Kossler, our new Interim Rector, who will join us on Oct. 15th. So, please, get out your cell phone - or a real camera! - take a picture of yourself or your family, and send it in JPEG format to me at: garipatton@astound.net.
Let’s aim for Nov. 15th at the latest, so Bob doesn’t have to wait too long to get to know us by sight. Thanks for your help!
