Saints of the Day:

Saint Theodosios the Great had Cappadocia as his homeland. He lived during the years of Leo of Thrace, who reigned from 457 to 474. The Saint established in the Holy Land a great communal monastery, wherein he was the shepherd of many monks. While Saint Sabbas was the head of the hermits of Palestine, Saint Theodosius was governor of those living the cenobitic life, for which reason he is called the Cenobiarch. Together with Saint Sabbas, towards whom he cherished a deep brotherly love in Christ, he defended the whole land of Palestine from the heresy of the Monophysites, which was championed by the Emperor Anastasius and might very well have triumphed in the Holy Land without the opposition of these two great monastic fathers and their zealous defense of the Holy Council of Chalcedon. Having lived for 103 years, he reposed in peace.

St. Vitalios, a monk of the Monastery of Saint Seridos, arrived in Alexandria when Saint John the Merciful (November 12) was Patriarch of Alexandria.

When he was sixty years old, he undertook an extraordinary task: he wrote down from memory the names of all the prostitutes of Alexandria and he began to pray for them.

He worked from morning to evening, earning twelve copper coins each day. In the evening the Saint bought a single bean, which he ate after sunset. Then he would give the rest of the money to one of the harlots, whom he visited at night and said, "I beg you, take this money and do not sin with anyone tonight." click here to continue

1/4/26 Youth Sermon

In two days we will celebrate the Feast of Holy Theophany/Epiphany, in which we remember the Baptism of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the River Jordan.

There is so much that we learn from this wonderful Feast, and one of them is the example of St. John the Baptist.

What was his example and how is it important for us today?

1/4/26 Main Sermon

On this First Sunday of the New Year you might think that you would hear a sermon of new focus and direction. Yet this is not what we hear in the chosen Epistle Reading in the Church calendar today, instead we hear how St. Paul knew his time on earth was coming to a completion and he shares his wise words with St. Timothy (and us).

What does he say?

What does this have to do for us in 2026?

EVENTS, FLYERS & INFO!!!

+PROSPHORO+

Bread has been the emblem of God’s providence for us, throughout humanity’s history. Both physical (bread as food) and spiritual - the επιούσιον (epiousion) or “supersubstantial” bread of the Lord’s prayer, the bread of Holy Communion.

In the Orthodox Christian church, the pinnacle of our worship is union with Christ, both spiritually but also physically, by consuming the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Since the Last Supper, before every Divine Liturgy, one or more of the faithful prepare and bring bread to church to be used as the Body of Christ in the Eucharist. The Orthodox church is liturgical. For those of us who bake prosphoro, the liturgy begins as we prepare to bake!

Prosphoro is an offering to God, made from His material gifts to us, and prepared lovingly and prayerfully.

A special website is available to share with the faithful this ‘proper’ method of preparation of the holy gift according to the Greek Orthodox tradition. Please click here to learn how to bake this beautiful offering.
