The Youth will be hosting a brunch in the Parish Hall during the Annual Meeting. Menu: eggs, ham, cheese, pancakes, and cinnamon rolls Free will donation goes to youth working at the brunch.

Financial Statements and 2022 Offering Envelopes are available in the Narthex to pick up!

REMINDER:  Those students attending a Lutheran college who would like to receive an EPIC grant must notify the church by May 1st.

St. John scholarship applications for non-Lutheran colleges can be emailed to you and should be emailed to the office by May 1st.

We are going to start a Prayer Shawl and Coffee Group.
WE REALLY ARE! FINALLY HAPPENING THIS WEEK, TODAY, FRIDAY THE 21st.

We are opening this group to "anyone" that wants to knit or crochet or just come have coffee with a nice group of ladies. I can teach you to knit if you want. Conversation is always free and fun. We will start off with treats and see how that goes. We have patterns if you need one to start a shawl. Free yarn is available for your use.
It's been a while since we've had some women's fellowship and this could be our start. There are some ladies from other churches that are going to join us and chances are you will know some of them. You can invite someone to come with you if you want; we intend to be ecumenical. The door under the canopy will be unlocked for those of you with trouble with stairs or in a wheelchair.
We will play it by ear if it continues every Friday or a bit less often as people help decide.

If you would like to be on a group email list for updates please send a request to me at petefishj@mchsi.com . You can also contact me at petefishj@gmail.com for quicker response. I will use this list in case the group has to be canceled on short notice or for a funeral which will use the space.
Luther College to present special music!
As part of our sesquicentennial celebration for 2022, we are planning on some “Extra-Special” music presentations for some of our worship services!
Starting on January 23rd at our 9:00 a.m. service, a small group from the Luther College Vocal department will present some special music for us to enjoy!

Remember to bring items for the Blessing Box! Many people are using our Blessing Box, so let’s keep it filled! Popular items: protein (chicken, tuna, meat sticks), boxes of cereal, individual easy-to-prepare meals. Bread & peanut butter. Cake mix & frosting. Pancake mix & syrup. Hot chocolate & marshmallows. Personal care items (bar soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo), toilet paper, tissues. Dish soap, laundry detergent (small containers). 


Helping Hands in the New Year 2022!!
What better way to start our 150th year of God’s Love in Action than to start a new ministry?! We have about 20 people ready, willing, and able to help run errands, do minor household help, and provide transportation.
If you need any of these services, please call Kathy at the church office during regular business hours. Someone will contact you within 48 hours of receiving the message to make arrangements to help. 
We will continue this ministry as long as we have volunteers to serve.

Jello Bowl Contest

On January 23rd, the 150th Anniversary committee would like to invite you to participate in a Jello Bowl contest. The youth will be serving brunch during the Annual Meeting, and we are going to add on a bit of fun. Think of it as sort of Jello potluck add-on. Maybe a fruit Jello would be a good accent or something with ?meat? Get those creative juices flowing and have some fun. Immediately following the meeting
we will announce the winning Jello.
Bring your entry to the Parish Hall when you come to church on Sunday and give us your name and category or you can drop it off on Saturday, January 22, between 10 a.m. and noon, while we are setting up. We have included a pre-registration FORM you can click on the at the bottom of this section.
Bring it with your Jello Sunday.
 
There will be 3 categories and 4 prizes in our contest:
Overall winner, most scrumptious (any flavor).
1) Jello with meat or something other than red Jello
2) Kid's entry
3) Red Jello
Each entrant will go away with a wonderful "participation prize".

Ouilt Sunday
Sunday, January 30th the Do Day Quilters will display the quilts they have made over the last year! Quilts are given to those in need like those at the women’s shelter in Mason City. They extend an invitation to anyone who would like to come help on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 9:00 a.m. You do not need to be a skilled quilter. There are jobs for ALL skill levels!

Coffee/drink & a treat will be served in the Parish Hall after,worship. Enjoy a moment to reconnect with each other in fellowship!

What you choose to bring for a treat is entirely up to you!

Altar Flower & Radio Sign-up: If you would like to sign up to sponsor the Altar flowers &/or the radio broadcast contact Kathy in the office at 641-228-3397! We will continue to have flowers as they are on the online service & the radio broadcast reaches many of our at home congregation!

Our 150th Anniversary is NOW!
To commemorate our 150 years, we are planning on having “something” every month through this year. We now have a big sign in front of the church letting the community know this is our year. Things are going to happen.
Next month we plan on having some architectural blueprints and documents for those with an interest in seeing what how our congregation made plans years ago.

For anyone interested in helping with some of the anniversary events this year, the Jello bowl is the first event that requires help, Contact me at petefishj@mchsi.com if you can help before church or during the Annual meeting and breakfast.
