Dear Friends
Please join us this Sunday as we welcome our Bishop! Bishop Shane Parker will preach at both services. Bishop Shane will join the 8 a.m. congregation for coffee at Bridgehead. At the 10:15 service, he will offer a Q&A time during the concluding announcements.
Please note that you require ID and proof of vaccination every time you visit the church building for worship or for any other reason. If you are not able to enter the building and you would like to participate in worship, please contact the Rector to receive home communion from the Reserved Sacrament.
Let’s do our best to keep each other safe.

WEEKLY PARISH WORSHIP VIDEO
This St John’s Worship Video anticipates our in-person worship service on Sunday, December 12, 2021 – The Third Sunday of Advent.
It’s a pleasure to welcome our City Councillor for Ward 14 Somerset, Catherine McKenney, for this week’s Community Conversation, including a reflection on the story of John the Baptist, Luke 3:7-18.
The hymn “There’s a Voice in the Wilderness Crying” is sung by the St John’s Choir giving voice to John the Baptist. The meditation on the harp is from Divinum Mysterium, better known to us as “Of the Father’s Love Begotten,” is presented by St John’s Music Director Gordon Johnston.
The worship service for the Advent 3 at St John’s will include additional scriptures and music. You are welcome to join us at 8:00 & 10:15 a.m. Please note that you require ID and proof of vaccination every time you enter the church building.
Welcome and I’m looking forward to meeting you!
The Reverend Gary van der Meer
Pastor & Rector

WELCOME TO OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM
I am delighted to welcome Steve Chaplin as Deputy Rector’s Warden. Steve joins Detlef Dransch, Rector’s Warden, and Stephen Giles, People’s Warden.
As we look ahead to our annual vestry meeting, it is important to keep two points in mind. First: St John’s is a complex organization and we need a larger leadership team to continue to be on top of many changes. Second: succession planning helps us to make sure we don’t wear out the leaders we have! Over the coming two months, we will be thinking about further additions to our leadership team: wardens, members of Parish Council, and the many roles on the worship schedule as we continue to serve our community. Welcome Steve! Thanks to all the wardens for your dedication and service.
