DIOCESAN COVID-19 PLAN
IN THIS TOGETHER

Recently authorized by our Bishop, please familiarize yourself with these documents:

St John's has a Pandemic Working Group, consisting of the Rector (or Priest-in-Charge), Wardens, Administrator, Director of Music, and two Parish Council Members. Over the next while, they will be working to prepare for gradual and safe reopening, once the Bishop approves doing so. Watch this space for news as time goes on!
KEEP ALIVE
HOPE

Anthony Fauci’s boss writes about why things could be much better soon in this interesting article: "A Long Talk With Anthony Fauci’s Boss About the Pandemic, Vaccines, and Faith."
LEARN

On a steep learning curve with new technology? Check out Connected Canadians for assistance! They use a hands-on centred approach to learning. Volunteers with a high comfort level in technology are paired with senior clients. Working together, either one-on-one or in group workshops, clients’ various technology challenges are addressed.
WATCH

This short film documents the friendship between Bono (of the band U2) and Eugene Peterson (author of contemporary-language Bible translation The Message) revolving around their common interest in the Psalms. Very interesting!
BE HEALTHY

Brian McLaren, a member of the Center for Action and Contemplation Living School faculty, reminds us why it matters that we pay attention to our health, not only physically but spiritually and ethically as well. Click here.
FIND WISDOM

'Wisdom During the Pandemic: Conversations in the Garden with John Philip Newell' is a weekly video series "drawing on wisdom from teachers of the past." John Philip will be asking, if these teachers were with us during this time, what might they say to us?
BIDDING FAREWELL TO BETH+
Beth+ will be leaving St John's to become the Dean of Ottawa and Rector of Christ Church Cathedral as of September 1st. Her last day in the parish will be July 30th, as she will take vacation in August.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 and our churches still being in the "red" zone (please see our Diocesan pandemic plan "In This Together" for details), we will be unable to farewell Beth in person. However, please sign the virtual card!

Beth would prefer not to receive a purse of money, but she has suggested two ways in which you are welcome to celebrate her ministry among us - by donating to the Ottawa Pastoral Counselling Centre and/or contributing to the gift of a cope. Please see below for more info.

If you require any further information, please be in touch with one of the Wardens, Detlef or Stephen.
VIRTUAL
GOODBYE CARD

Leaving a parish during this pandemic time means finding creative ways to bid farewell. Click here to leave your thoughts, memories, and well-wishes for Beth+.

CELEBRATING BETH'S MINISTRY
To make a donation in thanksgiving for Beth's ministry and/or to contribute to the parish gift, click here, and put "OPC Donation" or "Cope for Beth" in the memo box. You can make one donation and divide the amounts, please just note the division of funds. Thanks!
One of our Diocesan Community Ministries, OPC offers counselling and psychotherapy services for individuals, couples and families. The Counselling Support Fund supports those in our community impacted by mental health issues who come without the financial resources to access mental healthcare.
There are many special services at the Cathedral, and as Dean, Beth will require a special processional vestment known as a cope. She has chosen this one from Bramante Studio in Kitchener. It will be known as the "St John's Cope" and Beth will think of us with great joy and thanksgiving each time she wears it!
MORE WORSHIP
SERVICE OF PRAYER
FOR HEALING

Anytime, Online

In this challenging time our Cathedral offers a prayer service for healing and comfort. Often during a healing service, when we are gathered together, we are able to offer and experience the sacrament of holy anointing with oil. However as we are unable to do so at this time, you are encouraged to light a candle at the beginning of this service.
RESOURCES
FOR HOME PRAYER

To help keep you connected with prayer, faith and community in times of physical distancing, the General Synod (national office) has compiled a number of resources.
