CELEBRATE IN SONG

More than 100 Newfoundland and Labrador school communities and some special guests come together in a musical video compilation celebrating strength and unity in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
SAVOUR THE SUMMER

Warm days, cool nights, fireflies, shooting stars, bare legs, iced tea, watermelon, sweet corn, and swimming - all summer long, God lingers around every corner, in the shade of every tree, around every campfire. To make the most of this season, here’s an invitation to be as intentional as possible about savouring the wonders of summer - and growing closer to the One who makes it so sweet! Check out this link for lots of resources to make your summer even sweeter!
FIND COURAGE

Joy Clarkson has a theory, and she is staking her PhD on it. Clarkson, who is studying at the University of St Andrew's, in Scotland, argues that the stories you read, watch, and hear can actually help shape your character in real life. Long story short: if you spend enough time with Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee from Lord of the Rings, you, too, may become more brave than you ever thought possible. Check out the CBC article and podcast here.
REFLECT

This article, "This is The Best Time to Be the Church" reminds us who we are meant to be during this time, and all difficult times. Churches need shepherds and churches need sheep, and we need everyone to consider their calling. Our world needs each of us - there is so much work to do.
GET UP AND DANCE!

This dancing was filmed on Moscow's “overlook” in Sparrow Hills. Try not to smile as you watch this! It’s a nice, gentle clip…. “Putting on the Ritz”, in Moscow, no less! What a crazy, delightful, ever changing world! Who could have thought that in 2012 young people in Moscow would put on a "flash mob" happening, dancing to an 83 year old American song?!
BIDDING FAREWELL TO BETH+
As you will know from the letter from Bishop Shane as published in the Special Edition of TWSJ that was sent out last Saturday, Beth+ will be leaving St John's to become the Dean of Ottawa and Rector of Christ Church Cathedral as of September 1st. Her last day in the parish will be July 30th, as she will take vacation in August.

Small group, physically distanced opportunities for you to see Beth before she leaves and wish her well will be organized by the Wardens - watch this space for more info.

Please sign the virtual goodbye card, as below!

Beth would prefer not to receive a purse of money, but she has suggested two ways in which you are welcome to celebrate her ministry among us - by donating to the Ottawa Pastoral Counselling Centre and/or contributing to the gift of a cope. Please see below for more info.

If you require any further information, please be in touch with one of the Wardens, Detlef or Stephen.
VIRTUAL
GOODBYE CARD

CELEBRATING BETH'S MINISTRY
The Ottawa Pastoral Counselling Centre is one of our Diocesan Community Ministries. It offers counselling and psychotherapy services for individuals, couples and families. The Counselling Support Fund supports those in our community impacted by mental health issues who come without the financial resources to access mental healthcare. To make a donation in thanksgiving for Beth's ministry among us, click here.
There are many special services at the Cathedral, and as Dean, Beth will require a special processional vestment known as a cope. She has chosen this one from Bramante Studio in Kitchener. It will be known as the "St John's Cope" and Beth will think of us with great joy and thanksgiving each time she wears it! To donate towards this gift of a cope, click here, and put "Cope for Beth" in the message box.
