KEEP ALIVE
THINK

What does your God look like? This thought-provoking article may challenge you - a good thing!
BE BLESSED

Ah, the Irish always do music well! This gorgeous blessing has dancers and pipers and drums and vocals... Enjoy!
EXPLORE

What is going on with bread these days? Read this article and listen to the podcast to hear about bread's complex legacy (including a bit about communion bread around minute 12 of the podcast).
STUDY

'Inspired to Follow: Art and the Bible Story' is a free resource to help people explore the Christian faith, using paintings and Biblical story as the starting points. It has been created by St Martin-in-the-Fields in partnership with the National Gallery and begins on June 7th. Click here to find out more and to register for free.
SING ALONG

Chuck Mead and his Grassy Knoll Boys take us through the isolated woes of the 2020 Quarantine to the tune of Hank Snow's 1962 classic, "I've Been Everywhere". You will relate to this new zeitgeist masterpiece but in a way that will make you smile!
BE ENCOURAGED

By all the changes on Elgin Street! If you haven't been by the church in a long time, check out this video of the removal of the power poles and wires. The street is looking fabulous - and we have two new trees in front of St John's!
BISHOP SHANE
What an amazingly beautiful consecration service last Sunday, especially given all the COVID-19 restrictions! The service video and an article on the consecration may be found on the Diocesan website.. You may be interested to know that Bishop Shane made his own crozier from an ironwood staff he cut in 1978, cherry wood from a tree a beaver cut down, and couplings from an old outdoor umbrella stand.
Following the consecration last Sunday, Bishop Shane stood in the forecourt of the Cathedral in a moment of silent prayer, and then he offered the following blessing for the City of Ottawa. The tradition of a new bishop blessing their “see city” is an ancient custom.

A Blessing for the City of Ottawa

The blessing of God who creates life,
be upon this city as we celebrate life.
The blessing of God who restores life,
be upon this city as we rebuild our lives.
The blessing of God who sanctifies life,
be upon this city as we bring life,
hope, healing and justice to others.
Et que la paix de Dieu,
qui surpasse toute intelligence,
descende sur la ville d'Ottawa
et demeure toujours avec nous.
Amen.

May Bishop Shane be held in our hearts and prayers, and may we work together with him to renew the life of our diocese.
