POTLUCK & HYMN SING
Sunday, November 3rd
5 to 7 pm, Hall/Nave
|
Let’s get together for supper and singing! After the potluck, we will gather around the piano in the church to sing. You can request a favourite hymn in advance! Enjoy a wide variety of music, from early Christian hymns to modern music. Dr Gordon Johnston will tell stories about the hymns and the various saints and scallywags who wrote them and Josh Zentner-Barrett will play the piano and organ.

DINNER LECTURE SERIES

Valerie Galley Bellegarde will speak about Indigenous language reclamation and revitalization, and what we can do. A delicious buffet dinner will be served by Wawatay Catering from Kitigan Zibi, and proceeds of the event will go to First Nations University of Canada.

Algonquin Spiritual Teacher in Residence at Christ Church Cathedral, Albert Dumont, will introduce us to his book of poetry, Sitting by the Rapids.

PRAYER NET
Thanks to a former parishioner who donated an authentic Maritimes fishing net and the participants of the Embodied Prayer workshop, we now have a prayer net at St John's: "You are invited to take a piece of wool and tie it to this net. Offer a prayer, a thought, a need, or let this ritual express the wordless prayer of your heart. Return as often as you would like. May this net be a visual reminder that we are held in God's love, and that we are here with and for each other."
