Members of the Society of St John the Evangelist are again offering this creative Advent devotional project. Participants are invited to receive a word each day during Advent by email and then to respond to the word using the hashtag #AdventWord on social media to create a Global Advent Calendar. The Ottawa School for Parish Development
2019 Registration Now Open
Rooted in the Anglican ethos, the school shapes church leaders to support and foster healthy, sustainable congregations. The skills and knowledge learned equip people on individual, team, and whole system levels. Participants learn through plenary and small group sessions about change processes, facilitation, congregational and organizational development, personality type, and trust development. Working a series of models, case studies, and facilitated conversations, you will finish the two-year program over a course of eight weekends, confident in your ability to put knowledge to relevant and productive practice. Making Advent Wreaths

Come and make a wreath of real boughs for use at home throughout Advent. Wooden forms and candles will be provided for $10 per wreath (or pay what you can). Handel's Messiah

Our choir will present Handel's famous oratorio "Messiah" (Part 1 - Christmas). They will be joined by the choirs of Woodroffe United Church and Kanata United Church, accompanied by the Strings of St John's. The concert will feature music for the festive season and audience sing-along carols. Tickets are $20 per person, with discounts for families, and are available from the parish office or online (

Come and learn about formal and informal pastoral care in the parish, as we move to having a new Pastoral Care Team at St John’s. Verna Nuttel, of the Ottawa Pastoral Care Training Course, will be our speaker and guide.
Beth’s Sabbatical Adventures
Wednesday, January 23rd – 7 pm
Beth+ will show slides and share stories from her time in England and Scotland, and reflect on reconciliation, connection, soul-time and pilgrimage.
