A Note from
The Rector

Thank you a hundredfold to the Wardens, Laura, Gordon, John+, Gary+, Caroline+, +Peter and all of you who made my sabbatical possible. It was an amazing time and experience, made all the better by not having to worry in any way!
Over the next few weeks, Beth+ will share some photos and moments of her time of rest and renewal.
Sabbatical
Glimpses

Coventry Cathedral, looking through the amazing etched glass window of “bopping” angels and saints to the ruins beyond. An incredibly moving sacred space combined with a holy time of sharing reconciliation stories with others from all around the world, during The Community of the Cross of Nails Pilgrimage ( www.coventrycathedral.org.uk ).
SNAPSHOT: OTTAWA PRIDE PARADE
St John's Choir
Have you ever thought of singing in the choir? Do you know of someone who might enjoy being a member of the choir? The beginning of the season is a great time for new members to join.

For further information about joining the choir, please contact Gordon < gordon@stjohnsottawa.ca > .
Did you know?
that all parish clergy of the diocese are expected to the give the equivalent of
one day a week to diocesan ministry?
In the fall, clergy are required to attend the Bishop’s Clergy Conference and Diocesan Synod, and in the spring, there is usually a Clergy Day. Throughout the year, clergy are also expected to attend diocesan liturgical services (such as ordinations and inductions), diocesan programs and events (like the Giving Thanks and Praise workshop and Community Ministries Breakfast), and participate on at least one diocesan committee. Our Rector serves on Diocesan Council (the group that provides leadership to the diocese between synods), and as Chair of the Diocesan Parish Ministry Committee (which provides events, resources and education for parishes). Beth+ is also the Regional Dean of Ottawa Centre and is responsible for the monthly gathering of clergy, the Great Chapter (meeting of all the parishes within the region), and as a resource to the clergy of the region. As a Canon, Beth+ is also available to the Bishop for special projects or tasks, from time to time.
So, if you are wondering why she isn’t always in the parish, it is because she is serving our wider church family.
