Announcing Three New Scholarships!
Giving at St Joes is mission driven - one helps best by helping all.

Each year, our Maroon & Gold Gala raises thousands of dollars for tuition assistance, a sum that is enhanced by individual gifts, endowments, and scholarship pledges. We distribute well over $1.5 million in tuition assistance every year. Some have more, some have less, but St Joes goes best when we go together.

Building a a life-long community is imperative to the stability and advancement of our school. And because of that, during last night's Maroon & Gold Gala, we announced the creation of three new scholarships. The Rosemarie Skawinski Chaves ’74 Engineering Scholarship
Rosemarie Skawinski Chaves ’74 studied Industrial Design in the College of Engineering at the University of Bridgeport and had a successful career at Avco Lycoming. She was encouraged in mathematics and science by the faculty at St Joes, even as she was the only female in her Drafting class. 

Intended to encourage women to engage in engineering fields, the Rosemarie Skawinski Chaves ’74 Scholarship will be awarded to a student currently enrolled at St Joseph High School who intends to pursue a career in engineering. Preference will be given to female candidates. The recipient must also evidence the qualities of a St Joseph High School student profile: faith commitment, high moral character, social responsibility, academic achievement, and active participation in the school community. The recipient will be selected by the SJHS Scholarship Committee.
The Father John Baran '76 Scholarship
Father John ’76 was the highly regarded pastor of St Anthony of Padua in Fairfield. There, he cultivated a model of the engaged parish that serves as well as it worships. He would not let us forget that the People of God are made in love for a reason. As his ministry moved so many to lives well lived, we would perpetuate his memory.

The Father John Baran ’76 Scholarship will be awarded annually to an enrolled student who is active in his or her parish and who exemplifies a dedication to community and a personal faith life that is committed to action. As the St Anthony of Padua parish as a community exemplifies these values and as they are a sponsor of the scholarship, preference will be given first to a student active in that parish. The recipient will be selected by the St Joseph High School Scholarship Committee.
The Bellows Family Scholarship
Brian and Brenda Bellows and their daughters, Sarah ’07 and Laura ’11, have long exemplified the qualities of the St Joes “family.” Whether it was turning the new O’Keefe Center into a Winter Wonderland at Christmas or lending her magic to the Ladies Luncheon and annual Gala, Brenda took us from where we were to what we could be. Brian simply made us a better school. Recently retired as National Sales Manager at United Health, Brian generously shared his professional expertise in marketing and communications to elevate our development and enrollment management programs to high performance standards. St Joseph High School is so much more than a classroom. We are a family of faith and moral values, and it is families like the Bellows who make the difference. In recognition of Brian’s service and the family’s overall involvement, the Board has personally endowed The Bellows Family Scholarship. 

The Bellows Family Scholarship will be awarded each year to a student who exemplifies the qualities of the St Joseph High student profile: faith commitment, high moral character, social responsibility, academic achievement, and active participation in the life of the school community. The recipient will be selected by the St Joseph High School Scholarship Committee.
