A Fond Farewell
With Trinity Sunday the church's year reaches its halfway point. We've journeyed with our Lord from his birth, death, resurrection and ascension, and via Pentecost, to the feast of the Holy Trinity. At this feast and throughout the Trinity season, which extends to next Advent Sunday, we will focus in our worship on how these events in the life of our Lord affect the life of the church and our own lives. The hymn, St Patrick's Breastplate reminds us of the strength of the bond between Father, Son and Holy Spirit:
I bind unto myself today
The strong name of the Trinity,
By invocation of the same,
The Three in One, and One in Three.
This bond, this unity, is something we need as a church as we go forward together in the name of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. My prayer is that unity of purpose and intent will bring many rich blessings to God's people in St Paul's.
Reverend Canon Barry Thomas
Healing Service with Eucharist on Wednesday evenings at 18:30.
The Annual ACR ( Anglican Churches of The Riviera) Ascension Day Celebration followed by a Bring and Share Lunch was held at the Chaplaincy in Lorgues near Fayence. Hosted by the Reverend Peter Massey and his wife Shirley.
We were blessed by the Lord with the weather and sixty five adults and one child attending the Eucharist which was led by Bishop Michael Marshall, who gave a very moving Ascension Day Sermon. Reverend Bob Hurley the Chaplain from Grenoble was installed for a further Five years by our Area Dean the Reverend Canon Giles Williams, during the service. A very large contingent of Laity accompanied their Chaplain from Grenoble. The Reverend Alex Packett Chaplain from Marseille and the Reverend Tom Wilson Chaplain from St. Raphael were among the attendees.
A bring and share Lunch followed in the gardens and everyone had the opportunity to move around and communicate with members from other Chaplaincies. It was a very happy day of celebration and communication.
We thank the Reverend Peter & Shirley for their Welcome and All they did to accommodate us.
