THIS WEEK AT ..................

St. Pete First UMC

Hi Kelly—

Entertainer Danny Thomas said: "All of us are born for a reason, but all of us don't discover why. Success in life has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It's what you do for others." I think this plays very nicely into discovering what you are made for and employing yourself into the service of God and accomplishing something great.

Pastor Bob

This week is the third week of our sermon series Forgotten Virtues. What is a virtue? Better yet, are we living in a time when virtues are even relevant? This series will address how to bring back the virtues that are so important to our lives and faith. What are these virtues? Honor, Purity, Loyalty, Integrity and Gratitude.

Pastor Bob's sermon title this week is "Loyalty." What does it mean to have unfailing loyalty? Most people want to be loyal, but the world teaches us to look out for one person (ourselves). Due to life’s choices and circumstances, so often we find ourself not being a person of loyalty, but one who lives in “dis-loyalty.” How do we rediscover the forgotten virtue of loyalty?

The text for this week is Matthew 26:31-35 NLT.

In Our Father's House:

St. Pete First UMC offers heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Roger Dandro and Ron Moyer. We grieve with all who knew and loved them, and we hold their families & friends in prayer during this time of loss.

Roger Dandro passed away on May 25, 2025. Until his retirement in March 2020, Roger was one of St Pete First’s loyal custodians. For 6½ years, Roger worked many hours keeping things tidy and running smoothly at the church. He had a wonderful heart, a genuine laugh, and a strong faith. A funeral mass for Roger will be held on Monday, June 2 at St. Jude's Cathedral at 1 pm. (Directions)

Ronald Moyer passed away on May 30th, 2025 after a brief illness. Ron and his wife Maria moved to St Petersburg in 2016 and officially joined FUMC in 2019. He made many friends during church-sponsored trips to Israel, Italy, and Turkey and in the Fellowship Hall. He was also a proud member of the International Missions Cuba Team. A Celebration of Life for Ron will be held on Saturday, June 28 in the Sanctuary (time TBA).

TAKE ACTION! Help us meet unmet needs and serve others.

Our Street Ministry, a 20-year partnership with St. Vincent de Paul CARES, serves the homeless in our community. Rooted in our mission to “Love St. Pete,” volunteers prepare and serve meals five nights a month. Cook Team members make nutritious meals in the FUMC Fellowship Hall, while Serve Team members feed 100 guests per night. Most people volunteer to either cook or serve one night per month. The time commitment is usually less than 90 minutes. If you'd like to support this impactful ministry, contact Bruce Haselden at behaselden@gmail.com.
