St Patrick's Day Celebration, this Sunday, March 17th, 10 am Mass

St. Patrick's Day is this Sunday, March 17th so please save the date for the festivities happening after our 10am mass that day - Irish step dancers, bagpiper, and St. Patrick himself will be there with gold chocolate coins for the children. We'll have Hospitality after the noon mass too. No need to register but please plan on joining us that day and enjoy all the happenings and delicious treats prepared by the meal ministry. And if you are not part of the meal ministry, and would like to share some St Patrick's Day treats, we'll gladly welcome them that morning.

Jesus on My Shoulder, Fourth Video out Tomorrow

We are getting our steps in on our Lent on a Walk so just a recap as we think of Jesus on our shoulder and how he is close by. Close by our hair - he created us uniquely and gave us our gifts and talents - he knows us better than anyone. Close by our tongue - he wants us to build up His kingdom through affirming others with our words. Close by our ears - wants us to listen to people and things that make us better people and find the quiet space where we can hear Him. So please tune in either on our website, facebook, youtube or through your Wednesday email. This week we are talking about our heart and how important it is to have good heart health - not only physically but spiritually as well. There are a lot of things that go into making our hearts healthy and we will be exploring that on our walk. The question to answer on our website will be ... "What are we doing this Lent that is helping the health of our spiritual heart?" You can answer this question by going to the homepage of our website or use the button below.

Stations of the Cross, Fri, March 15th, 7pm

Stations of the Cross this week will be Friday, 7pm in the Church. Please check for the times for stations of the cross on our website - sometimes they will be at 1:30pm and sometimes will be in the evenings at 7pm. There is 1 Lenten Little Black Book left. If you would like it, please contact the office, 518-462-1336.

Holy Week - What to Expect

Don't forget as you make Easter plans to check out "What to Expect" during Holy Week on our website. That’s where you can go to see all the details on our services and masses including things like attendance, when to get there, what music is offered etc. People have found that this is most helpful so you might want to take a look. And think about someone that you can invite to Holy Thursday Dinner or one of our Easter masses.

Lenten Penance Service, Tuesday, March 19, 7pm

Our Lenten Penance Service will be held on Tuesday, March 19th at 7pm. There will be many priests available to hear confessions. Prayer memorization is never required to participate in reconciliation at St. Pius X. We can’t emphasize enough: do not be nervous; our priests are there to help you. If you’re not sure what to discuss during reconciliation, consider viewing the examination of conscience below to guide you.

Examination of Conscience

Sacred Heart Food Pantry Collection, This Weekend, March 16/17

This weekend is our Sacred Heart food pantry collection and you are welcome to bring food items during the week or this weekend to masses. Please put stick butter in the cooler located in the Atrium near the Information Hub.

March Food Pantry Needs

Return your Change-for-Change Containers March 23/24

Just a reminder that in a couple weeks, we will be collecting our change containers -- the weekend of March 23/24. This change is being earmarked for the farming needs of the orphanage in the Domincan Republic. If you have containers from past years, they can be returned on that weekend or to the Parish office anytime.

Spring Altar Server Training

Our roster for the Saturday 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. masses are full. We are accepting new altar servers for the 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon masses on Sunday. Students in Grade 4 and up are invited to get involved. If interested, please complete the registration form and we will reach out to schedule training. For questions, please contact Heidi Cummins at [email protected].

Parish Census

We have had about 1400 entries for our parish census which is great! So, please if you have not done so, take a moment this week to fill that out. It is very quick and easy to do. In our Pius Pulse Newsletter that should be arriving to your homes this week, there are directions of how to complete the census. Alternatively, you can go to our website and hit the parish census button on our homepage. Finally, if you have any questions regarding the census or trouble with the online form, please call the office at 518-462-1336 or email [email protected]

Bach Birthday Recital at St. Pius! Sunday, March 24, 3:00 PM (Palm Sunday)

Come celebrate the birthday of a well-known musician as St Pius Music Director, Brian Hoffman, performs some of Bach’s most popular works. J.S. Bach was a devoted sacred music composer and organist whose influence upon church music is unparalleled in the history of the church. Bach devoted his life to creating music to the glory of God. The duration of the recital will be one hour. Admission is free and appropriate for all ages. No need to register.

Holy Thursday Mass - Washing of the Feet Participants

We are looking for 12 individuals of all ages who would like to participate in the washing of the feet on Holy Thursday at the Mass of the Lord's Supper at 5:30 pm on March 28th. Participants are asked to arrive at the church by 4:50 pm to receive instructions.  If you would like to volunteer, please contact Heidi Cummins at [email protected] by Monday, March 25th. Those who have never participated before are especially encouraged to volunteer.

Holy Thursday Dinner , March 28th, after the Holy Thursday Mass

It's not too early to register for our Holy Thursday Dinner on March 28th. It has always been a nice evening during Holy Week to gather. Each family is asked if possible to bring a food item-either a pasta, meat or vegetable dish or a salad. Remember that new this year will be a kids' express line so food will be ready for them right after mass. At the end of the kids line will be a fun token for them to have. We hope this will help families with young children not get home too late that evening. Kids fed and a chance to be with your parish family for a bit hopefully is a win-win so we invite all to join us that evening.

Thank You For Your Responses to Where You Find Their Quiet Space

Thank you for being at St Pius this weekend and embracing our Lenten season and all our offerings. We are doing a nice job with Jesus on our Shoulder and last week we talked about listening to people and things that make us better people and finding a quiet space where we can hear Him, here are a few of the responses..."Adoration in a quiet empty church just gazing at the tabernacle" "Late at night when everything is turned off" "I can find silence when I drive home" "During my daily walk"

Update from the Orphanage, Casa Santa Anna, in Dominican Republic

There will be a group of 5 of us going down soon to the Dominican Republic to the orphanage we are helping and if you remember we - both the parish and the school are collecting change this Lent that will go towards farming needs that help in providing 25 percent of the food that the orphanage uses. And to go along with what our change proceeds are being earmarked for, our group has elected to work while we are there planting mango trees on the farmland! Ushers Needed for Easter Liturgies

It's hard to believe that we are already planning for our Easter services and if you can help us with ushering at any of the masses, there will be sign up sheets on the back wall inside the church on the Atrium side.

Substitute Greeters Needed at all Masses

We have a need for substitute greeters at all of our masses. If you can be on a greeter substitute list, that can really help us make sure there is a smiling face to greet people each weekend in the event a greeter cannot make it. Please call the office at 518-462-1336 or email Ann Rose at smallgroups@stpiusxloudonville if you can help.
