Dear Vincentians and Friends,
As we move into summer, I continue to be inspired by the compassion, generosity, and service that define the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Chicago. Across Chicagoland, our Vincentians are living our mission every day by meeting neighbors in need with dignity, care, and practical support.
This month, I would especially like to highlight our Vincentians in Action through community donation drives taking place at parishes throughout the region. These drives are an incredible example of neighbors helping neighbors. Volunteers dedicate their time to welcoming donors, receiving donated clothing, household goods, and essentials, unloading vehicles, and helping ensure each collection runs smoothly. These donations directly support our thrift store ministry and the charitable programs that assist families facing hardship throughout Cook and Lake Counties.
We are currently looking to expand our donation drive efforts this August and have openings available for additional community-hosted drives. While many drives are hosted at churches, they can also take place at businesses, neighborhoods, schools, community centers, or even alongside a community garage sale. Partnering a donation drive with an existing neighborhood event is a wonderful way to encourage giving, reduce waste, and support local families in need.
If your parish, business, neighborhood group, or community organization would like to host a donation drive this August, we would love to connect with you. Please contact Karen at karen@svdpchicago.org or 773-779-6700 ext. 111.
I also encourage everyone to participate in our USA 250 Raffle and Split the Pot fundraiser happening now through June 30th. This summer fundraiser helps support the Society’s mission of providing food, clothing, household essentials, and emergency assistance to neighbors in need across Chicagoland. Tickets are available online and at both Libertyville and Orland Park Thrift Stores.
Our Split the Pot jackpot is currently over $280 and continues to grow with every ticket purchased!
The drawing will take place on July 1st, and participants do not need to be present to win. Every ticket purchased directly supports the work of the Society and helps us continue serving our neighbors with compassion and dignity.
As always, thank you for standing with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Chicago. Your generosity, volunteerism, and continued support allow us to bring hope and human connection to those who need it most.
Wishing you a safe and celebratory Fourth of July season,
Jennifer Ahern
