Please note: this Sunday will be an abbreviated Eucharist service to accommodate all who want to participate in the Pride Parade. Worship will still be at 9:30 a.m. but will last no longer than 40 minutes. If you would like to be at the parade earlier, consider attending the 8:00 a.m. Eucharist at St. John’s Cathedral and then walk together with them to the step off point.

Special Update Regarding Pastoral Associate Patti Walter

I am happy to report that my lung drain is coming out very soon.(perhaps even today!) This a good sign of returning health! My doctors have informed me that I should be on this floor another week or so, and then I will move one floor up to their rehab unit. This too, is a sign of returning health! Timing is never exact in a hospital, so I'll keep you up to date. Your love, prayers, and support have sustained me these past two weeks for which I am thankful! The Caring Ministry has closely and prayerfully tracked my progress. We are fortunate to have their ministry among us!

Buy Your Copy of James This Sunday $15

First discussion is on Sunday, July 13 at 8:15

"Under the Oak"

These discussions take place at 8:15 - 9:15 on two Sundays in the summer.

July 13: We will discuss James, Percival Everett's Pulitzer Prize winning novel written from the perspective of "Jim" in Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn. This book is both harrowing and darkly humorous, told from the enslaved Jim's point of view. Brimming with the electrifying humor and lacerating observations that have made Everett a literary icon, this brilliant and tender novel radically illuminates Jim’s agency, intelligence, and compassion as never before.

August 10: We will discuss The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer.

June Giving-2-Others

The Center On Colfax

In recognition of Pride Month in June, the Giving-2-Others recipient is the Center on Colfax. Since 1976 the Center on Colfax has become the largest LGBTQ community center in the Rocky Mountain region, giving voice to Colorado's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community and playing a pivotal role in statewide initiatives to reduce harassment and discrimination. Today they are focused on ensuring every member of the LGBTQ community has access to the programs and resources they need to live happy, healthy, and productive lives. For more information on The Center On Colfax click here.

To donate online, click here or earmark a check to St. Barnabas for “Giving-2-Others” and place it in the offering plate, the office, or mail it in.

Support Endangered Unaccompanied

Immigrant Children

Unaccompanied children arrive at the US border without their parents or legal guardians. The Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) cares for unaccompanied children until they can safely reunify with their family.  ORR has now merged with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), essentially converting the agency into another enforcement arm for ICE. New policies center enforcement goals rather than children’s well-being.

For more information and to take action, contact Azadeh Erfani at the National Immigrant Justice Center: aerfani@immigrantjustice.org or Mary Miller Flowers at the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights: mmillerflowers@theyoungcenter.org
