From Your Board Of Directors

From The President

Greetings MHAO members

Here it is August and summer is slowly coming to an end. Hopefully the smokey skies will clear soon and the temperature will remain comfortable enough to enjoy a ride down the trail!

I am sad to announce that there will be no horse show this year at the Oregon State Fair. There were several factors that played in the decision (not on our part) but hopefully it will return next year. Unfortunately, the only horses that will be there to represent the equine world
will be the big Draft horses but they too will not be showing but just putting on an exhibition.

As for club news, I just want to let you know that our nominations for the board is rapidly approaching. Currently there are several positions that will be open. We are also actively looking for people to do the club newsletter, Stallion Service Auction, Futurity, and website. Gay Adams, who has been the driving force in these roles is stepping down off the board and will get a well-deserved rest from her board duties. We are so grateful for her years of service on the board and know that there will be big shoes to fill! If you would like to nominate someone for the board or are interested in helping with any of the tasks that Gay managed, please let me know.

In the meantime, continue to enjoy your Morgans!

Until next month…

Kathy Christensen, MHAO President

The Morgan Horse Association of Oregon needs your membership. We need your voice and your ideas. We represent the Morgan community in our State. Over the last decade, many Morgan clubs have disappeared. We are one of only two that are left in the US portion of our Western Region. That is scary. It is just the Morgan Horse Association of Oregon (MHAO) and the Morgan Horse Club of Washington State (MHCWS). Both organizations are doing all they can to support one another.

Clubs are the hub of the Morgan community and responsible for organized promotion of our breed. Without clubs, our wonderful breed is at risk of disappearing in our area. Clubs work to make the Morgan horse visible in our market, and to offer education and services that their members are interested in. But a club cannot survive without members. Below is a list of what MHAO offers you.

If an MHAO member sells a Morgan horse to a first time Morgan owner, the purchaser can have a free membership in MHAO for the year of purchase. Send in their information using a blank membership form available on our website. In the area for payment, put "1st time Morgan buyer." Our goal is with your help to earn their paid membership from that year forward.

2026 Recipients Of The MHAO Alex Mooney Memorial Scholarship

Camryn (Cami) Nicholson

Allison Peek

Congratulations !!!

Here is information about our recipients!

Camryn Nicholson

My name is Canuyn Nicholson, and I am 20 years old and currently finishing my junior year at Oregon State University- Go Beavs! This spring term has been both stressful and oveiwhelming because I decided to change my future career path from elementary education to speech-language pathology. Throughout the year, I was fully immersed in my education courses and spent one to two days each week working with children ma classroom for my practicum

placement. Next year, I would have begun student teaching. However, by the end of winter term I realized that although I love working with children in the classroom, I would feel more fulfilled becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist and working in schools, hospitals, or clinics. This career path had been in the back of my mind for quite some time because my mom originally worked in this field, and I had the opportunity to watch her help my youngest cousin with some speech difficulties involving the pronunciation of"S" sounds. I remember that moment clearly and thinking how rewarding it was to see him improve within just a few minutes and how proud he was of himself. It was one of the only times in my life that I truly thought, ''That is what I want to do." However, because Oregon State University does not offer a Communication Disorders and Sciences program, and OSU was where I really wanted to attend, I initially chose elementary education. When I decided to change paths, I left the education program because I was uncertain about my next steps. Looking back, I regret that decision because once I finalized my plan, it was too late to rejoin my cohort. As a result, I needed to find another major that I could complete, which ended up being psychology.

In spring 2027, I will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology along with a minor in Education. After graduation, I plan to complete one year of post-baccalaureate coursework in Communication Disorders and Sciences at Pacific University before pursuing my master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. I am extremely excited about pursuing this rewarding profession because I have discovered a strong interest in speech and communication sciences and the opportunity to help people of all ages. Whether it is working with children in schools who have speech impediments or helping traumatic brain injury or stroke patients relearn how to swallow and speak in a hospital setting, I know this is meaningful work that I am passionate about. Although I am not yet certain where I want to complete my master's program, I plan to apply to the University of Oregon as well as several out-of-state schools, including programs in Texas. Receiving this scholarship would mean so much to me, as it would help support my education as I continue into my post-baccalaureate year and future master's program in Speech-Language Pathology.

I have been honored to be involved with Morgans for the past six years and am excited to continue being part of this incredible community. Although I have not been involved as long as some individuals, the impact Morgans have bad on my life has been truly meaningful. My family became involved with Morgan horses again during the pandemic, and looking back, I cannot imagine what my life would look like had we not purchased our first Morgan horse. Getting to know these incredible horses helped me come out of my shell and grow tremendously in confidence over the last several years. I am beyond thankful for my mare, Amberfields Flame, who has taught me so much. We have both learned and grown together throughout our journey. I show her every year at the Oregon Morgan Classic and occasionally at C-Fair when finances allow. We have explored a variety of disciplines, but I primarily compete in ranch classes, including trail, rail, and western dressage. The supportive environment at horse shows and within the Morgan community has been incredible. The encouragement and kindness shown by others are some of the biggest reasons being involved with Morgans is so rewarding and special to me.

Honors and Recognitions

Throughout college, I have earned placement on the Dean's List several times while maintaining above a 3.90 GPA. I have also had the honor of receiving this scholarship in previous years, as well as the Grand National Alex Mooney Memorial Scholarship. Recently, Flame and I were recognized as the USEF National Champion Ranch Horse of the Year.

Activities

Over the past several years, I have taken on a variety of roles and activities. I am both an MHAO and AMRA member and currently serve as the youth board representative In this role, I write the youth newsletter and help develop potential activities for the Oregon Morgan Classic. Outside of horses, I enjoy line dancing and supporting the stock horse club that I am involved in. My biggest commitment, however, is my unhoused sorority, Sigma Alpha. Sigma Alpha is a professional sorority dedicated to supporting and empowering women in agriculture. Although our chapter is small, the friendships and support within the organization are incredibly strong.

Within Sigma Alpha, we also volunteer and complete service hours through Ag in the Classroom, a K-12 educational program designed to improve agricultural literacy and awareness in schools.

Leadership Experience

I have gained significant leadership experience throughout both high school and college. In high school, I participated in a program called Christian Leadership, where only a select group of students were chosen based on grades, work ethic, kindness, and leadership potential. During this program, we studied leadership skills, completed over 100 service hours, and led activities for other students. In college, much of my leadership experience has come through Sigma Alpha. For the past year and a half, I have served as Fellowship Chair and was recently reelected for another term. In this role, I organize sisterhood events and activities that help members bond, build friendships, and feel comfortable within the organization. I also lead a committee of about five members who assist with planning major events, including our annual Emerald Ball and alumni events. Emerald Ball is our annual themed dance that includes decorations, music, snacks, and activities for members and guests to celebrate our chapter together. This year's event takes place on May 16th and is Tangled-themed. Planning the event typically takes three to four months and has become one of my favorite responsibilities. Additionally, our annual alumni event was recently revived after not taking place for several years. This spring, we hosted an alumni BBQ before a baseball game. Although it involved some trial and error, the event went smoothly overall. Once Emerald Ball is complete, my committee and I will begin planning our next alumni event for football season.

Work Experience

I have had several rewarding work opportunities, with my most recent being at Dawn and Dusk Boutique. Dawn and Dusk is a western boutique that sells clothing, boots, hats, and accessories while specializing in custom hat design. Customers are able to personalize their hats with fabrics, charms, stitching, laser work, and branding. Although I do not work there regularly during the school year because of my academic schedule, I continue helping at pop-up events for parties and weddings. This position has been incredibly fun and rewarding while teaching me responsibility, communication skills, multitasking, and creativity in ways different from any previous job I have had. I have also enjoyed using my creative abilities through my own small business, West to Impress, which I started nearly four years ago. Through this business, I handmake jewelry and create leather-stamped and painted items. Although I have not been as active with the business recently because of school, starting West to Impress taught me valuable skills in communication, customer service, sales, budgeting, and creativity. In addition, I have gained experience working with children through programs such as B.E.S.T., SEAL, and Genesis Reading Academy. B.E.S.T stands for Boosting and Enriching Students Lives Today and was an after school program where we helped certain students work on math, reading, writing, and also arts and crafts projects. SEAL was a summer school program and the most fun one I have worked at! I would have continued working in this program except they dropped it down to one school instead of 7-8.

During SEAL I was an education assistant to a teacher of 11 kids where I managed groups in math, reading, and writing, monitored students in and outside the classroom, helped them do fun projects, and built a close relationship with each student. Genesis Summer Reading Academy is what I will be doing this summer and also did last summer. There is a wide range of ages and several spanish speaking kiddos as well where us teachers and education assistants work on different drills to develop better reading skills. Not only do we work on reading but we provide lunch, recess, music, art, and other elective type classes that are fun.

These opportunities allowed me to work directly with students in educational settings and further strengthened my passion for helping children learn and grow.

How I Heard About the Scholarship

I first learned about this scholarship several years ago through Mike and Erin Silver. My mom and nonna (grandmother) have known them for many years through the Morgan horse community and breeding horses. Since becoming more involved in showing Morgans again, the Silvers have been incredibly supportive and encouraging. Since frrst hearing about the scholarship, I have had the honor of being selected for it twice, which has greatly helped support my education. Beyond the financial support, it is incredibly meaningful to be connected to this scholarship and to represent such an amazing Morgan community. Although I never had the opportunity to meet Alex personally, I have only heard wonderful things about the kind and inspiring person she was.

Camyn Nicholson

Allison Peek

Morgan horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have been involved with the breed since I took my first lesson at three years old and now at twenty-two I truly cannot imagine my life without them. Morgans are more than just horses to me. They have shaped who I am as a person and have influenced both my career goals and the way I approach life every day. Through the Morgan breed, I have learned work ethic, compassion, responsibility, and the importance of always pushing myself to improve.

I chose to become a crop insurance agent because I wanted to help producers keep their family operations running, even during tough years. Agriculture is full of uncertainty, and I understand how much time, sacrifice, and heart families put into what they do. Being raised around horses and agriculture showed me how important it is to protect those operations and support the people behind them. I wanted a career where I could make a real difference for hardworking producers that help put food on our tables.

My involvement with Morgan horses has given me opportunities that I never would have imagined when I was younger. I have mainly been involved in showing, but the breed has taken me far beyond the show ring. Morgans brought me from Schuylerville, New York all the way to Walla Walla, Washington, where I had the opportunity to be the assistant trainer at Trafalgar under Greg Ferguson and Daryl Hopson for two years. That experience pushed me to grow both personally and professionally. Long days at the barn, constant learning, and working alongside talented horsemen taught me discipline and dedication, but most importantly it deepened my love and respect for the breed.

What makes Morgan horses so special to me is their versatility, heart, and willingness to give everything they have for you. Every horse has taught me something different, and every experience has helped me become more driven and determined. My newest Morgan, Manhattan Asset, is a big part of my future goals. I hope to continue showing and marketing him while finding the division and home where he can truly excel. As well, I plan to continue training horses for Dallas Bollen and Greg Ferguson and stay involved in the Morgan industry for years to come.

The Morgan breed has truly enhanced my life in every way possible. It has given me lifelong friendships, incredible mentors, unforgettable opportunities, and a passion that continues to push me forward every day. No matter where life takes me professionally, Morgan horses will always be a major part of who I am.

MHAO Humanitarian Award

This year we honor Kathy Christensen

Members of MHAO are dedicated to the health and welfare of animals and members of their communities. Many volunteer and donate generously to various causes. Indeed this organization wouldn’t exist without those who contribute their considerable time and talents. It is not surprising our members would do whatever they could to help others, especially during a time of crisis. It is the intent of the MHAO Humanitarian Award to honor and thank those especially generous members who courageously help rescue and care for animals and their fellow humans. Telling the stories of how our members have managed to contribute in spite of, and because of, these difficult situations will inspire us all to appreciate each other more and hopefully envision what we also might be able to contribute. With most awards in the equestrian community centered on winning-- this one is earned by giving.

Our most recent MHAO Humanitarian Award recipient is our own current MHAO President, Kathy Christensen. Though her selfless contribution was many years ago, it only recently came to our attention when we received this lovely nomination letter from Shelley Bullard:

Patricia Carlson

Organ donation is described as a "testimony of love for our neighbor". There is an emphasis on the need for genuine love that leads to the decision to donate. Certainly not an easy decision but one of profound selflessness that deserves to be celebrated.

Nine years ago, on August 16, Kathy Christensen followed her heart and donated a kidney when she learned she was a match for her nephew who had life-ending kidney damage due to lupus. Lupus is an autoimmune disease where the immune system produces autoantibodies. Normal antibodies are important in fighting infections, but in autoimmune diseases, autoantibodies mistakenly attack the body. When autoantibodies in lupus attack the kidneys, this can lead to lupus nephritis, which can vary in severity. In lupus, when these autoantibodies attack, they can cause damage over time. They can also directly attack the kidney tissue, leading to organ failure. An inflamed kidney may struggle to do its job, like filtering waste and balancing the fluids in your body.. Kathy’s nephew needed a new kidney, and by donating one of hers she gave him what is dramatically but not overstatedly called “the gift of life.”

When the call came she answered it even though it meant missing PNW with her beloved Morgan, Tomeri Nicollo. It meant missing Nationals in OKC. And it meant not riding for months. Few of our Morgan family even know about this act of selflessness – of love – by our MHAO president. They don’t know about the scar she carries. They don’t know she herself is now at greater risk as she no longer has a “spare” kidney if it is needed. They don’t know about the size of her heart. But, to me she is a hero, and I am happy to be able to share this detail about her life with the Morgan community. And, happy to nominate her for the MHAO Humanitarian Award.”

Shelley Bullard

Thank you Shelley for bringing Kathy’s story to our attention. We were happy to present her with a lovely plaque during the Oregon Morgan Classic to show our recognition and gratefulness to have people like Kathy Christensen in our community.

This years devastating wildfires are extremely challenging for so many people and animals. Our prayers are with you. To nominate someone you know who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to assist others contact Patricia Carlson through patricia@dressagemorgans.com. The MHAO Humanitarian Award is sponsored by Rick and Patricia Carlson.

Kathy, it is our priviledge to honor you.

This award is sponsored and was created by Patricia Carlson of Autumn Twilight Morgans to give us a way to honor and recognize the heros among us. Thank you Patricia.

Past awardees in 2021 were Mike & Erin Silver, David Silver, & Mary Anne Morrison for all they did in 2020 to help others threatened by widespread wildfires. To this day, they all continue to always be available to assist others.

We continue to be in their debt.

Do You Have Something For Sale?

Do you have something for sale? I'm sure you do! People are always looking for something or have something they would like to sell. From horses to tack to property, vehicles, trailers, training, lessons, stallions standing, trails to ride on, other services or products. Put your classified ad in the Stable Sheet. Members can sell anything here. Also post it on the MHAO Facebook page between the 1st and 5th of each month.

YOUR CLASSIFIED LISTING IS FREE!!

I'll even include pictures. Larger ads can be put into the main part of the Stable Sheet newsletter for a modest fee. Do you put on events or clinics? Summer Camps? Let us help you get the word out.

Do You Give Lessons?

This is something we get questions about. We are not currently very good at knowing or promoting those with lesson programs. We would like to be able to refer people to places where Morgan horses are included in the program. Give us the opportunity to refer people to you.

I have created a separate section of this newsletter for classified ads. Join with me as I endeavor to make it the "go to" place to share with those looking for horses or horse related items in this area. If you give lessons or sell something on an ongoing basis, why not put it here and on our website? Your listing is free!

Another idea, put your business card in the Stable Sheet! It only costs you $10 per year, and it helps us cover the cost of producing this newsletter. We need your support.

Forever Morgans Needs Our Help

Important notice. Please read.

Head's up- we're going under!... and if we do so do all the horses we care for. We know times are hard but we need funds to continue to care for those we've already committed to!

Forever Morgans is a volunteer supported, volunteer run rescue. No one in the organization is paid- everyone is a volunteer including your hard working board members. We KNOW times are hard. We KNOW many folks are doing their best just to care for their own animals. But we also know that donations are down, we’ve been operating in the red for over a year no matter how many corners we trim. Horses are also being returned to us because their people can no longer care for them (and we promised we always would when we rescued them!). People are losing their homes and their pastures. Morgans are still showing up at the wrong kind of auctions. Boarding costs are going up as hay and gas goes up. Vet costs are increasing too. We KNOW all this because the five of us, yes- only 5 for a nationwide rescue, are the ones doing the intake on horses, following up on auctions, paying bills, answering emails, responding to concerns and questions from the public, the fosters, the boarding facilities, responding to people who are asking if we can help with their horses, or their neighbors horses, discussing issues with vets, following up on horses in dangerous situations, and stressing over how on earth we will make ends meet. We do it because we are dedicated to Forever Morgans and the horses we help!

Does this sound like we are exaggerating? We aren’t. Our treasurer shared with us at our Board meeting last night that we have enough funds for approximately 3 months if nothing changes. You might ask- what do we spend money on? Bail costs. Transportation. Vets. BOARDING for those who have no foster homes to go to. Medicines. Etc. These expenses are all ongoing, none are going away!

We do NOT want to drown, and we’re working hard to stay afloat, but we must do something. So, as we always do, we are coming to you- the life preservers of Forever Morgans.

PLEASE help us keep our heads above water! If everyone just committed to $5 a month we can pay the bills and continue the basics. (and we very much appreciate those of you who already donate!)

PLEASE consider becoming a foster home! Boarding costs are our biggest expense. (info on what is involved is on our webpage)

PLEASE respond to our Zeffy fundraiser OR donate through our webpage. Don’t think – “Oh this is too small an amount to help” – it’s not! Every penny helps!

PLEASE join us in keeping Forever Morgans afloat!

Your support means the world to us and to our horses. Forever Morgans has been operating for over 20 years and has offered hundreds of horses a better life. Together we can keep swimming!

Rescue Group Working to Place 65 Horses Seized in Latah County Idaho

Short Timeframe - Urgent Request

Placement Needed by 8/28/2026

MOSCOW, ID — A horse rescue organization is working with the Latah County Sheriff’s Office to find homes or temporary placement for dozens of horses recently seized and forfeited to the county.

The Horse and Halo said it has until Aug. 28 to help secure safe placement for as many of the approximately 65 horses as possible.

According to the organization, the horses are believed to be primarily Morgans and have shown substantial improvement since coming into care, including gaining weight. The group is also working to arrange preventative veterinary care.

The Horse and Halo is seeking assistance from established equine rescues and people with acreage or facilities that could be used to temporarily house horses. The organization is also encouraging experienced horse owners and Morgan enthusiasts who may be able to provide suitable homes to apply.

Those who previously applied for a horse connected to the Westwinds Morgan case are also being encouraged to submit an application for one of the horses currently in the sheriff’s office’s care.

Rescue organizations or property owners who may be able to assist can contact The Horse and Halo at thehorseandhalo@gmail.com or admin@idahorescue.org.

The organization said the Aug. 28 deadline leaves a limited amount of time to find appropriate placements for the herd.

From the Latah County Sherriff Office on Facebook:

Only 14 days

We have until August 28th to rescue as many of the 65 horses recently seized and forfeited to the Latah County Sheriff’s Office as possible.

We are partnering with LCSO to find immediate, safe placement for these horses so their futures are no longer uncertain. We are incredibly grateful to the Sheriff’s Office for giving us the opportunity to do everything we can for this herd.

The horses are believed to be primarily Morgans. We spent time with them yesterday, and they are inquisitive, curious, and have wonderful dispositions. Since coming into care, they have gained weight and shown substantial improvement. We are also working to get preventative veterinary care on board as quickly as possible.

The herd currently includes approximately:

• 10 stallions

• 1 gelding

• 24 mares

• 23 foals

Exact ages and additional information are still being determined.

If you previously applied for a horse from the Westwinds Morgan case, we strongly encourage you to apply for one of these horses as well.

WE NEED HELP.

If you are an established rescue that can take horses, or if you have acreage or facilities we may be able to use temporarily, please contact us immediately:

admin@idahorescue.org

thehorseandhalo@gmail.com

Fourteen days isn’t much time for 65 horses. But we have an opportunity to change what happens next for them, and we’re going to do everything we can with the time we’ve been given.

Please share. Especially with experienced horse homes, equine rescues, Morgan enthusiasts, and anyone with safe acreage who may be able to help.

NOTE: These horses were seized from the Suomi family. There are 6 horses listed in the AMHA under the breeder from long ago. It appears none of these horses were registered by Luna. DNA will likely be required to register them.

In today’s competitive marketplace, visibility and credibility are everything—especially in the equine industry. Joining the Oregon Horse Council (OHC) gives your business a powerful marketing advantage while aligning you with the only statewide organization dedicated exclusively to Oregon’s horse industry.

OHC actively promotes its member businesses to horse owners, industry professionals, event producers, and the general public across Oregon. Membership includes placement in the Oregon Horse Directory, a widely used resource for equine services that helps potential clients find trusted businesses by discipline, service type, and region. For many members, the directory alone drives valuable leads and long-term client relationships.

Beyond the directory, OHC regularly highlights member businesses through its website, email newsletters, social media platforms, and industry outreach efforts. These promotions position your business as reputable, professional, and engaged in the broader equine community—building trust with customers before they ever pick up the phone. When OHC speaks, the industry listens, and members benefit from that amplified reach.

OHC also markets the industry itself, which benefits every equine business in Oregon. Through public education, events, partnerships, and legislative engagement, the Council works to elevate the visibility and value of horses in our state. A stronger, more recognized equine industry means more participation, more events, and more demand for equine services—directly supporting your bottom line.

Membership signals that your business is invested in professionalism, advocacy, and the future of Oregon’s horse community. It tells clients you are connected, informed, and part of a trusted statewide network.

If you want to grow your reach, strengthen your brand, and be promoted alongside Oregon’s leading equine businesses, the Oregon Horse Council is more than a membership—it’s a marketing partner.

Antwyne Solid Oak

We are pleased to welcome Antwyne Solid Oak to the 2026 C-Fair Charity Morgan Regional Hall of Fame.

Born on May 29, 1984, Antwyne Solid Oak, affectionately known as Monte, entered the world as a surprise. Bred by Judy Good-Miller, his dam had been declared open, making his arrival completely unexpected. From the moment he was born, Monte was bold, curious, and full of personality. Judy recalls him as an incredibly intelligent colt who was always finding ways to entertain himself—often by remodeling his stall or grabbing anything within reach with his playful mouth. Even as a youngster, it was obvious he was destined to be something special.

When Monte was nearly three years old, he found his forever home with Tom and Tonia McDonald and their horse-crazy daughters. Their oldest daughter, Nicole, instantly fell in love with the spirited bay gelding. The beginning wasn’t easy. Both horse and rider were young, inexperienced, and determined. Monte challenged everyone around him, but Nicole never gave up. With the guidance of trainer Jerry Blake, countless lessons, and endless hours of practice, the pair slowly transformed into an exceptional team.

Their horse show journey began at local Morgan shows, where they discovered they truly belonged. Year after year, Monte and Nicole became familiar faces in the hunter pleasure and equitation divisions, earning championship titles and unforgettable victory passes. Their greatest achievement came in 1995, when they won the Hunter Pleasure Youth National Championship unanimously in one of the largest classes of the show. Monte’s incredible stamina, heart, and presence made him unforgettable under the Arcuri banner. Tim Arcuri knew how to make Monte and Nicole shine in the youth and amateur division successfully. Monte’s talents extended beyond Nicole. Her sisters, Melissa and Keston, also enjoyed success showing him in hunt seat and western classes under the directory of Jennifer, Jack and Judy Chowning.

Later in life, Monte became a trusted lesson horse, teaching riders of all skill levels with his trademark intelligence and unmistakable Morgan spirit. Monte remained with Nicole throughout his retirement until his passing.

Linda Collins

We are pleased to welcome Linda Collins into the 2026 C-Fair Charity Morgan Regional Hall of Fame.

For over 35 years Linda has been a Morgan Enthusiast, Owner, Trainer, Coach, and dear friend to all who know her. Over the years she has worn many hats; serving on the Morgan Horse Club of Washington State, a vital committee member for both the Key Classic and C-fair Show. Stepping up with her usual positive attitude to run the AMHA Youth of the Year contests at both shows as well as putting out fun social media posts, helping with events and sponsoring fun events at the shows. Linda is always willing to help others outside her barn and works tirelessly behind the scenes to help make the shows fun for others to enjoy.

In the show ring she inspires her riders to reach for the stars, and reach they have! Linda has introduced and taught many young riders who are still competing today. Her clients are her family and that bond shows. A testament to her professionalism, knowledge and inspiration to her students and clients. Both Linda and her riders have excelled both regionally and in the National arenas.

Linda is a strong Advocate for the Morgan horse. Over the years she has taken clients to opens shows, volunteering horses for 4-H judging clinics, volunteering at the Washington State Morgan Horse club of Washington booth at the Washington State horse expo. She opened her barn to a day of “Meet the Morgan”, as well as opening her barn to FFA kids to a day of learning at the barn.

Linda quietly does anything that is asked. She always pitches in with a smile and unwavering dedication. No fanfare, never expecting anything in return, just does it out of the love for the Morgan Horse and it’s community. At Linda’s core she is always inspiring and is all about uplifting and encouraging others, making them feel hopeful and ready to achieve their goals.

A true inspiration to all of us! A True Ambassador of the Morgan horse!!!

Congratulations!!

Mike & Erin Silver

We are pleased to welcome Mike and Erin Silver into the 2026 C-Fair Charity Morgan Regional Hall of Fame.

Many years of dedication to the Morgan horse is something that is the norm for Mike and Erin Silver. Their commitment to the Morgan breed has touched countless people, horses, and organizations throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Erin’s connection to Morgans began in childhood. Her parents, Bill and Marilyn Nicks, owned NF Morgans. She exhibited throughout her junior years. Since then, there has rarely been a time when Erin has not been a visible and active presence in the Pacific Northwest Morgan community.

Mike came from a Rodeo/quarter horse background. He of course switched to Morgans after meeting Erin.

Today, as the owners of Silver Mesa, Mike and Erin have helped countless riders develop their equestrian skills while fostering a deep appreciation for the Morgan horse.

Winning countless Regional and Grand National and World Championships, their influence extends far beyond their own clients. Mike and Erin willingly share their knowledge with anyone who needs help, regardless of who they ride with. Their generosity, mentorship, and willingness to support others has strengthened the entire Morgan community.

Mike and Erin have been instrumental in helping to grow the Working Western division both Regionally and Nationally. They have worked with the different show committees to help them build knowledge and help promote this ever-growing discipline.

They are always there with tireless and consistent efforts to showcase Morgans throughout our region. Efforts like:

• Working at Northwest Equine Expo

• Providing horses for the Oregon FFA State Horse judging contest

• Ensuring that Morgans are represented at Oregon AgFest

• Organizing teams for the Oregon State Fair “Battle of the Breeds”, and winning that competition every year but one since 2019.

We thank them for their commitment to the Morgan horse and its community.

Congratulations!!
