Don Proebstel
Our warm thoughts go to Debbie Proebstel at this time of loss. Don Proebstel, husband of Debbie VanDyke Proebstel, passed away Sept. 4 after a long fight with ALS.

So sorry Debbie. Many prayers are sent your way.

There will be a Memorial service Sept. 17 at the Legion Hall in Carlton, OR from 2:00 pm to 5:00pm. Bring pictures of some of the good times to share, I know there are not a lot because he seemed to manage to be behind the camera.

Ensbrook Nuance
1998 - 2017
(Ensbrook Avanti x DJP Cinderella)

Our deepest sympathy to Patty Davis

From Jennifer Unick -

A dear friend of mine lost her horse to colic that was not fixable. I am beyond heart sick for her and her loss of a horse I have known for years. Patty Davis, I am so very sorry for your loss of Ensbrook Nuance. I know you loved her more than anything and I am so very glad she had YOU to love her and take her on adventures with you. Nuance, you were an excellent example of your Morgan breed, and all whose lives you have touched will be forever grateful for your lessons and the love you gave.

From Sandra Nichols -

I am heart broken with the sad news of the passing of Ensbrook Nuance. My heart goes out to Patty Davis for the tragic loss of her girl.
Nuance had a nice show career, was one of my best lesson horses teaching many to ride. I never imagined ever parting with her. Then Patty came into my life looking for a horse to be her partner, love and trail horse. Perfect home - I could have not found a better home for her. Nuance was out of the first foal crop of Ensbrook Avanti and out of the beautiful Trebles Willy Wild daughter, DIP Cinderella. She will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her. My heart goes out to Patty.
Townshend Norseman
1987 - 2017
(Townshend Melarry x Townshend Vigilme)

From Kathy DeFazio on September 11, 2017.
Today we said goodbye to Townshend Norseman. He had a good life, productive
and full, never sick or lame, and healthy to the end.

He won Grand Champion Stallion at the PNW show in the early 90's and was successful as a show horse in Jr English Pleasure with Jean Sauer. He went on to be a great ambassador for Morgans, teaching my daughter to show, trail riding with us, and did OHSET with Katie Hardy, as well as showing Classic. He had 27 foals as our herd sire, his get all went on to be useful good solid horses. He carried Art Perry at OMC and Horse Affaire in full parade gear. His last job was to carry my grand daughter at two for her first ride. He will be missed, especially for his kind and friendly ways. Please to all that had his kids or knew Norseman, feel free to share a memory or something about your horse. I wish all horses could have the life this horse has and deserved. He went quietly and peacefully on this beautiful September Morning.
From our Members

Our members filled the last month of summer with family time, vacations, & as much time in the saddle as possible whether at late summer events or out on the trail. Everything was overshadowed by a horrific fire season in the Northwest.

"The sun was tragically beautiful tonight! Picture doesn't do the size justice but the color is amazing."

The fire is raging! I'm sad for all the people that have to leave their homes, sad for the horse that's been lost in that area and sad for the loss of a wonderful horse camp! Prayers for all the fire fighters.

Wherever you looked, wherever you were, you saw the smoke. You knew the Northwest was on fire. In many areas, sometimes - depending on how
the wind was blowing - it was hard to breathe.
Although we will miss summer, we are all looking forward to some Fall rain.
My heart breaks for all the areas damaged by fire... and especially for the
beautiful Columbia River Gorge.

Highway Highlights -

We are deeply grateful to Peter and his family for sharing in Dale's Life Celebration last month. The 3 oldest grandkids loved the "lagoon" at McMenamin's hotel in Bothell. Rob and I swam in this community pool as kids and several Olympic medalists trained there before it was sold to the new hotel complex and reduxed as a lovely family venue open to the community as well as hotel guests.

On a quick visit to the Mukilteo beach the kids were enchanted by the Washington State we took a walk-on for a sunset ride on the newest ferry in the fleet--the Tokitae.

Fabulous weather graced our family hike to Trout lake and a 4th generation of Rob's family enjoyed the sights of that sweet hike. 4 miles total and 500' elevation was no problem for energetic grandkids! Giant fungi, slugs and ferns entertained our little Montanans-- as well as the largest living douglas fir in North America!

Time on the beach...

August 5, 2017 from Carol Dombrowsky

Today was another bitter sweet day. I have sold one of my beautiful horses that I thought I would have until I or he died.

But a beautiful youngster fell in love with him and they have been an awesome pair. She has taken lessons on him since she was 11 and now that she is the ripe old age of 13 she gets to own this beautiful boy. It is so nice to sell to a family when that family all gets involved and never misses a lesson or a show.

So congratulations to Kaila Wilcox on the ownership of PT Cruiser. May you have many more beautiful rides together.
