Moody's Upgrades City of Inglewood, CA's Lease Revenue Bonds Series 2012 to A2 from Baa1

Moody's Investors Service has upgraded the City of Inglewood, CA's Lease Revenue Bonds Series 2012 to A2 from Baa1. The A2 rating is one notch lower than the City's A1 Issuer rating. The one notch distinction reflects a standard legal structure for a California abatement lease financing and leased assets that we view as "more essential." The one notch also reflects the strong legal features of California general obligation bonds that are not shared by lease revenue debt. This rating action affects approximately $28 million in outstanding debt.

Take a look around the construction site for the new Rams stadium

As the Rams prepare for their first regular season game representing Los Angeles since 1994 (they take on the 49ers tonight at Levi's Stadium), work is moving right along on the team's  new stadium in Inglewood.

So far, workers have reduced the construction site to a massive pile of dirt. And we mean massive. The nearly three million-square-foot stadium-soon to be the largest in the NFL-is being constructed in conjunction with a sprawling  mixed use development that will add 3,000 units of housing, more than 620,000 square feet of retail space, a hotel, music venue, and public area complete with an artificial lake at its center.

All together, the stadium and surrounding village will occupy about 300 acres on what used to be the site of the Hollywood Park race track. The 70,000-seat venue is expected to be complete in time for the start of the 2019 season. In the meantime, the Rams will play in the city of Los Angeles itself for the first time since the team relocated to Anaheim in 1980. They'll call the  Coliseum home for the next three years.

Cash from cookies sold at Oscars goes to Inglewood Girl Scout troop

They reached into their tuxedo pockets and Chanel purses and rummaged for cash as they sat before the Oscars stage. Waving $20 bills, they flagged down a squad of intrepid Girl Scouts who took full advantage of their star-studded audience.

"I want you to reach into your millionaire pockets and I want you to buy some of my daughters' girl scout cookies," Oscars host  Chris Rock  told the celebrities.  "Alright,  Tina Fey, get that money, girl.  Charlize Theron, yes.  Matt Damon, yes. Leo, you made $30 million. Come on!"

Rock, who used part of Sunday's show to  raise money for the Girl Scouts, said the cash would go to his daughters' New York troop. But it turns out that was just a line - his children weren't there.
