Please join us in welcoming the newest member of The New England Council staff, Mariah Healy. Mariah joined the Council this week as our new Director of Federal Affairs. She is based in our Washington, DC office, and is the primary staff liaison to the Council’s Higher Education Committee and Technology & Innovation Working Group, working with members in these sectors on advocacy, programming, and projects.
Previously, Mariah served as the Associate Director of Federal Policy at Council for a Strong America. In this role, she was responsible for advocating on behalf of retired admirals and generals, business leaders, and law enforcement leaders on Capitol Hill. Her focus was issues of early childhood education, nutrition security and equitable access to childcare. Mariah was also the lead on issues of Diversity and Inclusion.
Prior to joining Council for a Strong America, Mariah was a Tufts University Tisch Summer Fellow for Civic Life with the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development for the State of Massachusetts. She served as a Legislative and Policy Fellow under Secretary Jay Ash.
A native of Potomac, MD, Mariah holds a BA from College of the Holy Cross with a degree in Political Science and an MA from Tufts University with a degree in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning. She defended a thesis on the Prescription Monitoring Program as it relates to physicians and opioid prescribing practices in the Boston area.
