Introducing Staff Council SPOTLIGHT
UNC Charlotte's Staff Council is excited to introduce our quarterly feature "Staff Council SPOTLIGHT" to keep you in the know of opportunities, perks, and resources available to UNC Charlotte Staff! Each issue will highlight three to four departments whose services staff may not be aware are available.

If you know of a service that needs a spotlight, please let Rachel Pierson-Bonin know!
ComPsych
The University recognizes that employees experiencing personal issues (marital or family discord, financial problems, alcohol and/or drug abuse, etc.) or significant life changes (such as having or adopting a child, taking care of a parent, sending a child to college, etc.), should be encouraged to seek professional assistance since such problems often result in stress and anxiety for employees and their families. In addition, personal problems of this nature impair work performance and often impact fellow workers. The University realizes that with early intervention and proper support, most employees can be effectively assisted and become able to fully function at work and at home, thus improving their well being and work-life balance.

As a result, The University of North Carolina at Charlotte has partnered with ComPsych GuidanceResources® Worldwide to provide Employee Assistance Program (EAP) benefits to full time permanent employees at UNC Charlotte.

Free Software
ITS manages campus-wide systems and software that translate into hundreds of services used by the university community. Along with local IT units across campus, over 600 services are offered! (Go to servicecatalog.uncc.edu to see them all.)

One of ITS’ most popular offerings is FREE software that is available to all staff members. Need Adobe Creative Suite? Microsoft Office Suite? Just go to software.uncc.edu and see what software is available to you. (Tip: Microsoft software can be downloaded on up to 5 devices!)
Service Awards Program
Every quarter, active, permanent State employees are recognized for reaching service milestones. Recipients are celebrated in five-year increments. Employees who are eligible for a Service Recognition Award receive a credit for a dollar amount that can be used at Barnes & Noble at UNC Charlotte bookstore to purchase or put towards an item or items of their choice.

The credit amounts are as follows:
5 Years - $20
10 Years - $35
15 Years - $50
20 Years - $75
25 Years - $100
30+ Years - $125

At the start of a new quarter, the service award recipient will receive an email with award fund instructions. This will share the award active and expiration date, as well as FAQ sheet . Shortly after, recipients receive a signed congratulatory letter and certificate to thank them for their service.

The employees have approximately 90 days to spend their award before it expires. Service Award Recipients are unable to transfer their funds to another 49er card or purchase gift cards, but are able to purchase any tangible gifts in the campus bookstore. This includes items that are out of stock such as books, with the help and approval of the Barnes & Nobles Charlotte manager.

Service Award Recipients are celebrated via the BRAVO Newsletter and Recipient Listing that is shared on the website and listservs.
