Canon to the Ordinary Health Announcement

To Iowa Clergy, and Persons in Charge in Congregations

From Bishop Monnot:

Dear siblings in Christ,

Today I have some hard news to share with you about our beloved Canon Meg Wagner.

As you may know, for over 15 years, Canon Meg has been living with two overlapping autoimmune diseases that attack the liver and slowly destroy its ability to function. Over the last month it has become clear that she has progressed to end-stage liver disease. She is now beginning the process of being evaluated for acceptance into the University of Iowa’s Transplant Clinic.

Meg still plans to do the work she loves with us while she is able. We are also making plans to be ready if and when a liver transplant becomes an option and she needs to take a medical leave of absence.

For now, I ask for your understanding if she needs to make adjustments to her schedule and move more things to Zoom that had been planned as in-person meetings, or to re-schedule to accommodate her health needs.

Please join me in prayer for Meg and for her care team as she and her family navigate the journey ahead.

Your sister in Christ,

+Betsey
