August 31, 2023

Dear Colleagues,

Thanks to those who attended a very successful “Innovations in Glaucoma” meeting a couple of weeks ago. It was great to see so many people from OCB in attendance!! Exciting new developments in early detection and treatment for glaucoma, also known as the “silent thief of vision,” are ongoing and the Glaucoma Research Foundation is a fantastic resource for not only medical professionals but for patients so that they can stay on top of these advancements.

The sharing of ideas and continuing education are vital to the development of our staff and the care of our patients. I very much look forward to the New England Ophthalmological Society’s annual meeting October 6th, and its Annual Meeting for Technicians and Nurses. As many of you know, Dr. Richter is this year’s president of NEOS!

I want to extend a sincere thank you to Sharon Brown and Sherry Malone for their roles in planning what looks to be an exciting and informative event packed with a variety of relevant presentation topics! (See attached flyer.) Thanks to all of the presenters and everyone who will participate in this upcoming meeting. I strongly encourage our clinical staff to attend, so if you haven’t yet talked to your manager about attending, please do so ASAP!

On a separate note, we are so pleased with the response to our new digital suggestion box. At last count there were 82 thoughtful and constructive suggestions. Thanks to everyone who has participated. This is an ongoing effort so if you have an idea about ways OCB can improve, click on the image to the left. We will share more information at the upcoming Town Hall meeting Oct. 3rd. You will be receiving a calendar invite for this meeting very soon.

As we head into the Labor Day Weekend, I hope you take some time for some well-earned rest and relaxation!

Sincerely,

Laura Fine, MD

President and Medical Director

Shout Out!

Example of "Unity" in Weymouth

Shout out to the entire Weymouth office! On Monday, 08/14/2023 the Weymouth office was packed to the brim with providers. Due to the domino effect of unfortunate circumstances, the morning started off in mass chaos!

Everyone stepped up and helped everyone! It was the best example of teamwork I have seen in a long time! An even bigger shout out to Brittney Sullivan! She was a rock star! She was running all over the office and teched for just about every provider in the office that day! With her help and along with everyone's teamwork, we got through and survived a challenging day!

-Nicole Hopkins, South Shore Clinical Manager
