Dear CCEW Staff:
The senior leadership team has spent the past several weeks re-working an agency wide initiative that started in 2018 to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in our organization. In these past months it has become even more clear that we have much work to do to transform our own agency into one that works for racial justice and that becomes actively anti-racist. The senior leadership team strongly believes in the work of this agency, each program, and each one of you. We would like to make sure that CCEW continues to grow and improve as an organization committed to DEI.
We are inviting each of you to consider participating in a newly forming
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
- The committee will be made up of 12 individuals, of which 7 will be people of color.
- There will be a chair and co-chair, selected by the committee members.
- Employees from all programs and regions of CCEW are encouraged to apply. Meetings will be inclusive of people available both in person and over Zoom/Teams – geography will not be a barrier to participation.
- Employees will receive a stipend for their work on this committee ($100/month for approximately 6 hours per month of committee work).
- Eligible employees must have been employed at CCEW for 1 year and be in good standing.
This committee will be responsible for advising the agency on how to best develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and practices that demonstrate commitment to DEI work, and for holding senior leadership accountable for the work being accomplished.
In addition to the DEI Committee there will be a support team made up of members from senior leadership, HR, and communications. This support team will be responsible for supporting the DEI Committee by executing on agreed upon action items and ensuring the resources needed to complete the work are available.
So what’s next? We are asking that any and all employees interested in being on the DEI Committee
complete and save this application

and then submit by email to

.
All applications will be reviewed by senior leadership and the 12 Committee members will be selected. Once all 12 members are selected, we will begin scheduling meetings to review the work of the committee, and to have the committee participate in decision making about what initial steps are to be taken.
Finally, we also would encourage you to watch for more invitations from Rob and the leadership team about opportunities to engage in conversations on these important DEI topics. Rob’s video message, sent to staff a couple of weeks ago, kicked off the conversation. Rob also recently issued a document with helpful clarifications about the video, which may be found here:

If you have any questions about this process, or would like more information, please reach out to any of the support committee members listed below.
