National Nurses Week 2022
This year's International Nurses Day Theme for 2022 is “Invest in nursing and respect rights to secure global health”. Our Pottstown CDHC community reflects on the hard work, passion, and dedication that nurses and caregivers across the world embody every single day. Nurses are essential. They perform some of most important daily tasks in healthcare and are often the first point of contact for most patients. National Nurses Week serves to recognize their tireless and often thankless efforts. Community Health and Dental Care believes supporting nurses by investing in their jobs, leadership, education, safety, and wellbeing is crucial not just this week, but year-round.

Going to the doctor, going to the dentist—all part of taking care of your health. But going to the eye doctor? Also important! Eye exams at every age and life stage can help keep your vision strong.
Many people think their eyesight is just fine, but then they get that first pair of glasses or contact lenses and the world comes into clearer view—everything from fine print to street signs.
Improving your eyesight is important—about 11 million Americans over age 12 need vision correction—but it’s just one of the reasons to get your eyes examined. Regular eye exams are also an important part of finding eye diseases early and preserving your vision.

Choose healthy meal and snack options to help you avoid high blood pressure and its complications. Be sure to eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Talk with your health care team about eating a variety of foods rich in potassium, fiber, and protein and lower in salt (sodium) and saturated fat. For many people, making these healthy changes can help keep blood pressure low and protect against heart disease and stroke.
Starting on June 7 from 2 PM to 4:30 PM, the Chester County Food Bank with have their Fresh2You Mobile Market Food Truck with healthy fruits and vegetables parked at the Coventry Mall CHDC location every week.

2. Scalp- Exposed skin, including the crown need to be protected from sun damage.
3. Ears- An SPF Coating keeps skin cancer at bay.
4. Hands- SPF Helps prevent early signs of aging.
5. Lips= Lip Skin is thin. Use a lip balm with sunscreen in it.

Have you ever wondered who gets asthma? Asthma tends to run in families, which means that you are more likely to develop asthma if someone in your family already has it. Children with eczema or food allergy are more likely than other children to develop asthma.
Allergy to pollen, house dust mites or pets also increases your chance of developing asthma. Exposure to tobacco smoke, air pollution or other inhaled irritants can also cause asthma symptoms in those with an underlying tendency to asthma.

Around 25 million US residents suffer from asthma, a respiratory disease that has no cure, but is manageable and controllable. Each year, 1.6 million asthma patients visit hospitals in the emergency department, leading to over 170,000 hospital stays.
About 32 million Americans have food allergies and 24 million either have Allergic rhinitis or nasal allergies. The most prevalent food allergies include peanut, milk, shellfish, and tree nut, and childhood food allergy often turns into a life-threatening chronic condition.
The impact on these figures is even greater considering the caregivers and the communities besides the people who report the diseases.
The National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month is dedicated to bringing greater attention to asthma and allergies. It aims to educate people about their causes, help them recognize their symptoms, and get diagnosed, and timely treated to ensure a healthy lifestyle.
