Shanté Haymore-Kearney ( @inspirationbyshante ) is one of Kristi House's Education and Outreach Specialists, delivering best-practice prevention education programs to community partners, parents, and children in Miami-Dade. Shant é is also our resident mindfulness expert, a certified yoga instructor and a South Florida Wellness professional. She is the founder of @browngoddess_collective , a wellness community for women of all shades of brown, and is also a facilitator for the South-Florida based non-profit @connectioncoalition where she leads a 15-hour yoga and mindfulness outreach certification training for those who want to volunteer to teach yoga to youth in high-risk communities.

Especially when dealing with challenging issues like child abuse, Shanté's serene presence as an educator is a true asset.
5 Benefits of Yoga/Meditation for Trauma Survivors
Childhood trauma can have lasting residual effects on a child's mind, body, interpersonal relationships, and overall well-being. Trauma-informed yoga and meditation is a gentle methodology that is often used as a healing practice in the rehabilitation process of trauma survivors. Yoga/Meditation help to release tension from the mind and body through the union of breathing, physical movements, and mental relaxation exercises that can provide noticeable results within a few sessions.
