Dear Friends,
Carter Webster has been a part of the Holy Communion team for more than five years — first as Minister to Youth and then as Head of Program Staff.
As Minister to Youth, Carter led our youth program through the planned disruption of capital construction and the unplanned disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic. Carter built meaningful relationships with our teenagers and parents in those challenging seasons of ministry, settled our new youth ministry suite, led two international pilgrimages, and founded a successful Bible Study that invites our older youth to mentor their younger peers in the study of scripture.
As Head of Program Staff, Carter transformed a group of relatively new Holy Communion parish staff members into a cohesive program team. She displayed management acumen by waiting to hire her successor as Minister to Youth until she had identified just the right person, working diligently to develop creative temporary solutions that carried our youth program forward in the meanwhile.
Indeed, Carter has served Holy Communion faithfully and well, and it is with mixed emotions that I write to let you know that she has accepted a new administrative position in the healthcare sector. She will be taking her leave from Church of the Holy Communion on Sunday, September 10.
Holy Communion has a decades-long tradition of investing in early-career professionals. While we will all miss Carter’s presence among us, we should also be very proud that she is joining a long line of people who have developed their skills at Holy Communion and launched off to success in a variety of contexts.
We will have many opportunities to celebrate Carter’s ministry at Holy Communion, and most specifically during our Wednesday Evening Program on September 6. Dinner begins at 5:30 and will include a recognition of Carter’s ministry around 6:10 p.m.
I am beginning to develop plans to cover Carter’s responsibilities following her departure on September 10, and will write more about that soon. Until then, please join me in thanking Carter for her dedication to Church of the Holy Communion over these last five years and in praying every blessing over the next chapter of her professional life.
Yours in faith,
