Staff Volunteers Needed for Commencement
Team,

Our mission at Idaho State University is to educate students so they can better their lives. Commencement is the culmination of that mission. Pocatello commencement is scheduled for April 24, 2021. This will be the first Commencement celebration on campus since December 2019. This is our chance, to celebrate and honor the hard work and accomplishments of our students. To do this right, we need your help. I am asking you to be part of this exciting event by volunteering .

This semester, we are planning three identical ceremonies at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m. These ceremonies, broken out by colleges, will be shorter and will allow for safe physical distancing. Because these are such large-scale events we need volunteers to help showcase the Bengal Spirit. Volunteer roles will include ushers, way finders, processional support, graduate check-in, student experience, and more. Commencement planners have prioritized the health of our Bengal family above all other concerns by adopting numerous safety measures to mitigate risk for all participants. These measures can be viewed on the commencement website.

To volunteer, please complete the Commencement Volunteer Sign-Up Form as soon as possible, but no later than March 31. Volunteers will receive detailed instructions and will have the opportunity to attend a pre-commencement walkthrough.

The University has approved that classified staff will be compensated for overtime worked, if applicable, during Commencement. If prefered, staff may alternatively coordinate with their supervisors for a work hour adjustment or compensatory time instead of paid overtime in support of this key event.

Please direct your specific volunteer questions to Allyson Johnson, [email protected] or (208) 282-4798.

Thank you for supporting Commencement! It is WHY we are here.
