SRs vs STAFF
The senior basketball teams faced off a team of staff members in an intense game over the block before lunch today! The staff definitely gave the students a run for their money perhaps in an effort to prove that they (staff) are not quite the other type of ‘seniors’! In the end, the students prevailed, and everyone had fun. What a great way to finish off a Friday challenge than with a student council sponsored barbeque. Way to be Mustangs!

GOLF TEAM
The second leg of the golf season is complete. Immaculata played in tournaments at the Okanagan Golf Club (4th), Sunset Ranch (2nd), and the City Championships at Gallaghers Canyon (4th). The Mustangs are traveling to Kamloops next week to play at Rivershore Golf Club for the Okanagan Valley Championships. Individually Markus Hopley finished tied for 2nd at Sunset Ranch, and 5th at Gallaghers Canyon. With 8 teams and over 40 golfers participating every week, the team has been quite successful. Wish the Mustangs luck as they head off to Valleys!

Did you know that, across Canada, elementary and secondary students have varied access to Catholic education? In some provinces and territories, Catholic education is fully funded. In others, it is partially funded. And in still other provinces, no government funding whatsoever is provided for Catholic education, making it a luxury out of reach to many students and families.
This year, on May 30 CISND schools are hosting a Toonies for Tuition Day where we collect funds to help make Catholic education a reality for students across Canada.

Olivia graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary. Like many of her peers, a big memory from high school is when Covid hit the summer of grade 8, and having to go into quarantine. Olivia is grateful for Immac’s school spirit, she loved the hype she felt sitting in the crowd during basketball tournaments. After enjoying her summer, Olivia plans on studying Psychology at the University of Victoria. Congratulations Olivia! #immacgrad2024.
Nick went to Black Mountain Elementary and Spring Valley before going into grade 7 at St. Joe’s. Some of his favourite memories from Immaculata are Mr. Wilson dancing at a retreat and taking sunglasses photos with teachers. This summer, he will be working on his car, travelling to Vancouver Island, and hanging with friends. Nick is grateful that regardless of the day, all the staff at Immac will somehow still crack a smile! Nick plans to work until January 2025 when he will begin his training for Commercial Aviation diploma.Nick’s sister Kelsey also graduated at Immac. Congratulations Nick! #immacgrad2024
Sofia is a graduate from SJK. She is most grateful for her friends. Her favourite memory from Immac is grade 10, when she had a coconut in her backpack and Mr. K cracked it open! This summer, Sofia will travel to Italy for a month, and upon her return she will start the Certified Dental Assistant program at Okanagan College. Sofia’s cousin Cameron also graduated from Immac. Congratulations Sofia! #immacgrad2024
Owen went to Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary before coming to Immaculata. One of his most memorable moments in High School was for saying a “bad word” and thinking he was going to get expelled. He is most grateful for the teachers at Immac, who are in his words: “saints”. This summer, Owen plans on getting a job and continuing to work through the fall. He sees himself married and working in Toronto in the future. Owen’s mom, and at least one aunt and uncle graduated from Immaculata. Congratulations Owen! #immacgrad2024

Iyra is a graduate of St. Joseph School in Kelowna. At Immac, Iyra made some favourite memories that include going on sports trips, and the first semester spare block where the majority of the grade 12s ended up (Mrs. Uhrich loved it!...). She appreciates how small the school is because it helps build close connections with others. This summer Iyra plans on working to save money, relaxing, and tanning. In the fall, she will be attending Douglas College in New Westminster, studying Sciences. Iyra’s sister Justin, and brother Ryan also graduated from Immaculata.
Congratulations Iyra! #immacgrad2024

Nigel joined St. Joseph Kelowna in grade 3 and came to Immac from there. Some of his memorable high school moments include grade 8 rugby practice in the rain and mud and Senior Basketball trips last year. He is grateful for the size of the school because it made it easier to get help with academics when needed. In the summer, Nigel plans to work, golf, mountain bike, and train to play rugby at UBCO. He will be attending UBCO’s Health and Exercise Science program in September. Nigel plans on attending Med School to become a family doctor and might still be living at home. Both of Nigel’s older brothers Andrew and Gavin are Immaculata alumni.
Congratulations Nigel! #immacgrad2024

Heavenly Father, As a child of God, May I look up to You, For You have all wisdom; May I be blessed with humility, For You make everything possible; May I enjoy hopeful anticipation, For You give surprising gifts; May I come to You in need, For You are never too busy; May I find comfort in faith, For You are gentle and forgiving; May I love unselfishly, For You love me. Amen.
